Dinosaurs!
Oct 2021
From the moment we walked in we were entranced. For one thing there is a 2-story tall astronaut costume in the main area. The museum is built for kids, we 60+ older kids had a great time too. There are dinosaurs all over the place. And then there were the toys. My husband played for an hour. The museum is right on the river, so the outside gets a little gusty.

A museum designed to entertain little kids
Jul 2021 • Couples
I was recently in Winnipeg and visited the Manitoba Museum. It reminded me of what the science Museum of Minnesota used to be: A spectacular and comprehensive display of history in nature, provided in an engaging and detailed format. The redesign of SMM a few decades ago gave a beautiful building with spectacular views of the river, but dumbed down the science to simple, spectacular Exhibits to satisfy today’s low attention spans.
My daughter certainly enjoyed going to the science Museum of Minnesota until she was 11 or 12, but after that the repetition and simplicity no longer held her interest. It’s sad to say, but this format simply reflects the loss of interest, Knowledge and understanding of science in current American culture.

Fantastic Science Museum
Jul 2021
Excellent, interactive museum about all things science. Fossils, space, light, magnets, perspective, math, etc. Best part was the sports science. Race a T Rex! Have to book times to keep numbers low due to covid, but this meant the hordes were out as well. Win!

Benn here several times and doesn’t disappoint

Great place for any age or group. Many exhibits an multiple floors with great views over the Mississippi River. Various special exhibits come through which are generally worth the add on for tickets, though none this time. COVID limits food options to basic snacks so plan accordingly but definitely worth a trip. Best to enter the parking garage from the lower level off Warner-Shepherd road.

Make sure you shop!

Strangest review you may ever see ... I go to the Science Museum on a regular basis. I go to visit the MUSEUM STORE. It has interesting stuff; the best toys, books and puzzles ... better than most toy stores. Every year, I luck out and buy several of my family's Christmas presents at the store. And usually, gifts that come from the Science Museum are the most popular with my family!

Science museum a blast!

This was a fun interactive place to visit. Plenty to see and do. We did an interactive thing called Infestation about natural selection - using clues we went thru the museum to help the scientists find their little fur balls/tribbles. Good time!

Been Going Here Since I Was A Kid

As someone who grew up in Duluth, Minnesota we always went to the Science Museum when we would make a trip to the twin cities. As an adult I still appreciate all that it has to offer. From great films to informative exhibits it's still a delight to check out. It is more aimed towards kids, but my wife and I enjoy checking out the movies and new exhibits.

Who knew science could be this fun

A day or half day of fun awaits at the Minnesota Science Museum. There are great interactive exhibits for all ages, but the real fun is seeing a “live” dinosaur. The t-Rex youngster is approachable and fun for all ages. Showtimes vary, but it’s easy to find out the schedule on-line (smm.org) There’s a digital Omni theater as well. Don’t miss the view of the Mississippi River and the musical stairway. A great way to learn while having fun. Parking available.

Omnitheater Highlights
Feb 2020
This edition of the Apollo 11 mission is a condensed version of the film that was in theaters about a year ago. It offers highlights of the first moon landing, which is probably better for kids who may get bored with the longer version. However, NASA nerds will probably miss the details.
The exhibit for the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing contains interesting artifacts and provides a clear timeline for the US vs. Soviet Union race to the moon. There is a lunar rover you can sit in for a photo op, as well as multiple videos and various equipment and models. Even after having visited the Kennedy Space Center less than a year ago, we still learned something new. Definitely worth a visit to the Science Museum while the exhibit is here.
