- William LMotley, MN49 contributionsEarly June my family and I visited the Nisswa City Park (the picture is outdated, merry-go-round thing has been replaced with new equipment, and to the left of the pictured area is a really great, multi-leveled playground) for a little outside celebration. We had a really great time enjoying playing and relaxing while being in a place that was large enough to encourage social distancing without being exclusive. Mostly surrounded by baseball fields, and a pickleball/basketball court, this park has a lot of things to offer for a variety of ages. I was there with 5 adult family members and 5 children family members and we all got to enjoy the park. One adult took a nap on a comfortable and shady bench, while the rest ate and watched from one of the three large and sheltered picnic areas. The 5 children (ages 7 to 7 months) all found activities that they loved. Three different age-appropriate swings, multiple slides, monkey bars, bridges, and that weird colorful prison-like thing that King Bob used to throw malcontents into on the show Recess; we had a blast!
Two things that I thought could've been better both have to do with spacing. 1) the picnic shelters were all a fair distance from the playground. We had to have one adult on the playground to keep an eye on the kids because it was just too far and too many obstructions to be able to see the entire playground from the picnic area. I know some people probably want to be able to use the shelters without being so close to screaming children, but maybe one of the three should've been 30-50 feet closer. 2) My 2-year old is an avid climber and can easily climb the tall ladder-like things that lead up to the higher levels of the playground. The problem was that her short (but powerful!) legs couldn't reach across from the top level of the ladder to the platform, resulting in her learning a valuable lesson about gravity at a height that was much too high.Written June 9, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Many having fun building little jumps. It's open on weekends and Mondays. Check the website for the hours. Prices are reasonable.
I found the views up top astounding -- especially if you like overlooking the "lakes area". This adds to my winter lake experience, ice fishing, and cross country skiing.
After-ski you have Zorbaz https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g43373-d522683-Reviews-Zorbaz-Nisswa_Minnesota.html
I can only say negatively is that the hamburger buns are a little "thick". Probably will get a pizza next time.Written January 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DancingBearTucson, AZ4 contributionsVisited in the off-season but still had great food, beer, and service. Large outdoor area for enjoying the outdoors and music on their outdoor stage. Fire pits keep things warm but dress for the weather if wanting to sit outside. Bartenders are helpful to find the perfect brew. It’s a great place for enjoying tasty beer with friends. Families with children seemed to be welcomed but might feel out-of-place among the crowd (but they do have draft root beer for the kiddos). Food was counter service but very tasty and presented well. The cheese curds are awesome.Written October 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Chad BSheldon, IA49 contributionsThis was my first experience on The Pines. I grew up in Northern Minnesota and have played almost all the courses and this one ranks up there. I have played The Preserve a couple of times and think that place might be a touch better, but it's a toss up. We played the Lakes and Woods nines and enjoyed them both. The conditions were fantastic, the the design very nice without stupid holes that ruin good designs, and the service and facilities at the clubhouse were very good. Highly recommend!Written September 17, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tony & Julie2 contributionsSteve and Grace were great. When we couldn't find a place to rent bikes on labor day Steve and Grace were there to help us. They are extremely friendly and down to earth and went the extra mile by changing our tires when they didn't have to. I would recommend them with the highest approval rating possible. When we come back the Nisswa, MN we will definitely choose them for bike rentals again. People talk a lot about customer service these days, but theses guys live it.Written September 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KareenBozeman, MT2 contributionsLove this place! Came in for the oils, but came back just two days later for all the other good stuff--my family demanded more of their pasta! Very friendly staff that helped us try samples and find something we love. I will be back--great for gifts, especially for those hard to shop for people who have everything.Written June 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NANCY BChamplin, MN3,020 contributionsFirst visit to this unique store located downtown Nisswa just miles north of Brainerd. I was here to purchase some gift items to donate for a fundraiser and the employee Lori was very kind and helpful as well. They had alot of apparel from the local lakes plus many, many other items to choose from. This is a must see place in the area if you like to shop or just browse as well. Can't wait to go back the next time I am in the area.Written March 16, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
