We arrived on a Friday afternoon after surveying our resorts from younger days including the outstanding Maddens and Grandview Lodge properties and drove the entire distance around the west side of the lake (less inhabited and smaller cabins than the more accessible east side with Minnesota State Highway 371 circumventing the lake). We got up there about noon and found few places to eat inexpensively right on or near the lake as many of the bars and clubs had not opened yet. You can always find food at Maddens and Craguns Resorts at their golf courses, but it’s expensive and you would feel out of place if not in golf attire. We jumped on our jet ski and explored some of the calmer bays on the north end (lots of channels, but calmer water on this windy day). We pulled into Zorbaz and opted for a beer and some chips and salsa and then we were on our way. We ventured out into the main part of the lake and went against the waves for an hour or so and still did not get down to the southernmost end due to strong winds out of the south. We drive by this lake frequently and see whitecaps a lot when we go by on the highway on the east side. There is a Corps of Engineers boat launch and recreation area much closer to the southern tip and we wished we had launched there as we were unable to a beach to swim at on this hot day. We loved this lake, it was clean and beautiful. We’ll come back and take another swing at it.

We nailed the fish the first day and then had a tough time the next few days. There was a 40 degrees temperature change so I’m sure that had something to do with it. If there is a wind, expect to be pushed around. There are few bays to hide in. Lots of magnificent properties to see from the water.

Beautiful property on Gull Lake. Promenade from lodge to lake is spectacular. Sandy beach with surrounding cabins, indoor pool, and water activity rentals (sups, kayaks, etc.) Restaurant at lodge has outdoor seating and wonderful food.

The preeminent lake in the Brainerd Lakes Area. I grew up here, so it brings back many memories. Lots of activities, lots of good dining options - including Bar Harbor and Zorbaz.

We stayed on Gull Lake, it has the best sunsets. It is so peaceful here and the water is a great temperature. The lake is clear and you have to walk out quite a way to get in deeper

We love Gull Lake! So much to do for everyone! Boating, fishing, golfing etc. lots of great resorts and several great restaurants on the water you can access by boat. Our favorites are Jake’s, Ernie’s and Zorbas. We stayed at Cragun’s this year with a large family of 28 and everyone had fun and so much to do. We can’t wait to return next summer!

Great lake to surf on! Many resorts but the best way is to find a local who knows what to do and where to go.

Gull Lake is beautiful! We took a pontoon ride and the views were breathtaking. We also canoed, paddle boated and rode a water bike. Fun!
