Had dinner at the cafe, went through centre, congratulations to everyone involved, a real assets to the area, beautiful surroundings, beautiful meal, food was top class, waitress was very helpful and well informed. Overall very enjoyable experience.

We took a day off and went for a drive to Curio Bay. We visited the new visitor center and had a lunch at the cafe. Beautiful local caught fish with a fine salad. Then to finish experienced the visual display covering the area. Well...More

On a drive round the catlins we stopped to se if we could spot any penguins - saw a head in the distance! There’s also a petrified forest at the end of the penguin walk

From the top of the viewing point you can see the bay, and with good eyes you can see the tiny dots surfacing that we assumed to be dolphins. Anyway there were some good views from the top and we had our picnic sat on...More

Nice golden beach! Petrified forest is ok too. Saw lots of dolphins. A few where in the bay itself playing in the waves. Lots of them right at the bay entrance. Maybe 100m from the shore. No penguins though.

Just a drive to this bay leaves you feeling exhilarated and energy filled. Magnificent rocky landscape.

We were expecting to see some dolphins here, but the sea was too rough, so instead we opted for the walk to see the ancient trees fossils.
