Captain Michelle made our excursion absolutely perfect! Scout is immaculate and beautiful and a dream to sail on. Experienced sailors and novices - both will love this excursion.

We started our evening meeting Michele and Jamie, who escorted us to the 70 ft schooner called Scout. We stowed our overnight bags and were offered beverages and snacks before we shoved off, just before 7:00 p.m.
The weather was perfect! Low 70s partly sunny with a nice breeze. We were quickly sailing Grand Traverse Bay, at a nice clip. At the beginning of the sale, Michelle pulled out a map to show us what our route was likely to be. Both Michele and Jamie we're familiar with all of the sites along the shoreline, and most things in the Grand Traverse area. During the sale, we were able to watch as the tall ship, their other vessel, gracefully glided through the bay, sales billowing gracefully in the wind.
Though it was more cloudy toward sunset, the colors were divine. Michele took photos of us with the sunset in the distance, as well as others during the sail. And to top it off, we saw a glorious rainbow on our way back toward port.
After we docked, Michele and Jamie familiarized us with the boat and departed with good night wishes. We spent an intimate evening on board, which we had stocked with wine and charcuterie selections.
I highly recommend you experience this sailing trip, whether you spend the night on the boat, or not. It's very well worth it and a great value.
I believe the next time we're in Traverse City, we'll take a brunch trip on the tall ship to see if it's as exciting to be on it as it is to view it from a short distance.

What an amazing experience sailing on the Scout with my wife on our anniversary. Michelle was an awesome Captain, full of energy and extremely knowledgeable when it came time for us to take over the sails. We will definitely be back for a 9 hour tour with Tall Ships in hopes to have Michelle join us yet again as Captain. Thank you for your time and looking forward to the next adventure ️️️

Captain Michelle was great. Will do this again. Those of us who wanted were able to work as crew when we wanted.
Everyone had a great time.

We received this gift from friends for our wedding, and it was hands down one of the best experiences. Captain Michelle is a fantastic sailor and gave us a fun experience. We got to enjoy the boat, and she really encouraged us to have a good relaxing time. This is definitely an experience I would recommend to anyone, and want to have again with family. I've never sailed before, and with this little taste, I want to do more...unfortunately I'm in Kansas lol.

We had a great trip sailing on the Scout with Michelle as our captain. She had our boys help set the sails and man the helm. She taught our boys and us some of the sailing lingo. She shared information and stories about the Traverse Bay and sailing. Everyone in our group had a wonderful time sailing with Michelle on the Scout!

Captain Michelle was great! She let us get involved as much or as little as we wanted. BYOB on board and have a party! We cranked up the Captain Ron soundtrack. We're definitely going to do this again.

We have a party of 7. 5 adults and 2 children. Would we be able to go on the boat?

He could probably accommodate you. He told us 5 or 6. Since you have 2 children, it could work!
Can 2 people be part of a group. How much for2?

Scout can only be booked privately, for one flat fee. The 12-2 and 3-5 sails are $319. The sunset sail is $369
Price for 2 people?

Would my 17 month old be ok for a 2 hour tour?

I think it would make for a stressful trip on the Scout unless the child was able to sit right by you if you were in the cockpit. It would be okay if you stayed in the salon but that’s not much fun if you’re sailing. Also, the day we went it was very windy so I would definitely would not recommend a trip for that age on a day like that.

Would it be hard for an elderly person to get on and off the ship?

Two of us sailed and Captain Dave gavevusca steady hand. You need to step over some rope rigging, onto a small area, then step down onto seat cushion, then step down and sit on the seat cusion. If two people lend a hand, that is it. Once seated just enjoy the ride.
Take your time stepping and have someone grab your hand. No need to go below unless to use the head (bathroom). It is a wonderful experience...calm and relaxing.
Do they sail in October

Yes they sail in September and October. If you go to their website and click tickets and scheduling you can make a reservation. Or if you want to call them they have a phone number there to call. Have a great time! We did.
