No one has mentioned yet that the TCSP has a new name. In 2011 it was officially renamed the Keith J. Charters Traverse City State Park to honor a local commissioner/hunter/fisherman. But, despite the new signs, the locals still call it "the state park". The...More

We visit many times a summer. The beach is clean, the water clear although it doesn't warm up till July. But kids don't seem to mind that. Parking is close and plentiful. Parents and grandparents appreciate that when you have coolers, floats, boogie boards to...More

We only walked along the beach area, which was very pleasant and well maintained. There are public restrooms and benches. The campground is across a busy highway but there is a crossing.

The state park backs up to the TART trail. So you can do miles of snow shoeing. Just google TART Traverse Area Recreational Trail for maps. Amazing location.
