The church is right next door to the Tower of History, and worth a quick look in while you're there. It's a pretty little church, and a nice place to get some peace and quiet for a moment. Nothing here will make you linger.

Although this is the third oldest parish in the US this church is actually the 5th structure built in 1880. According to the little History booklet which you can find in the church it is built in the Rural Quebec style. It reminds me of a few other churches in the UP and also reminds me that the Soo area is one of the places Arcadians entered the US making their way down to Louisiana. In fact when I entered St Louis Cathedral in New Orleans I was immediately reminded of this church and others in this area of Michigan and Ontario and felt right at home. I attended this church as a child when I spent time in the Soo and my parents were married here so it has great personal interest for me. But I do think the church and Tower of History next door are both worth visits. I spent a happy 45 minutes walking about the church. The church and especially parish is of great historical interest to this area and the UP.

This is a beautiful church, and very well worth a visit! It is beautiful inside with a very traditional feel... wish more Catholic Churches were still this style!

This is one beautiful old church. The interior is beautiful and well cared for as as the exterior. Awhile visiting parishioners were working the exterior plants and flowers about the premises. The stained glass windows are beautiful as is the altar and interior art pieces. The Church also has a nice feeling to it for prayer. We are definitely visiting this church again next time in the area.

Attended 9:30 am Sunday Mass and was breathtaking !! Mass was said by a young priest who lived in the area when he was younger. A very holy man. Very friendly ushers. Thank you Lord for the beautiful day.

The oldest Roman Catholic Church in Michigan. The interior of the Church is Gothic. The Gothic style is an exquisite combination of dark wood beams, plaster on the walls and the most beautiful stained glass windows. This is definitely worth your time to stop by and see.

Are there photos of the interior of this church prior to the current paint scheme? I think this is a church I visited as a child, but the paint in the current photos makes me wonder. Was it ever natural wood without the color?

This is the first time I visited. So I have no idea how many if any modifications or remodels may have occurred at the church.
