The Muskegon Heritage Museum exhibits the history of the industries of the Muskegon area. We have a working bowling alley. The first 75,000 Raggedy Ann's were made here, we have one from 1918 on display. There over 12,000 square feet of display space on the museums three floors. Outstanding! So many great displays of Muskegon industries! From the logging display to the steam engine, to Brunswick. Each area was interesting and well presented! Just a wonderful museum!!

Want to see a working stationary steam engine powering a machine shop from 100 years ago? The innards of a working Brunswick bowling pin setter? The exhibits focus on the industrial past of Muskegon. If that is your thing, you will love this museum.

What to do on a rainy day with a 12 year old. Go here! The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable and helped make this an interactive affair. The many businesses on display their various products and where they were located within the city was great. We all enjoyed it immensely. Great displays and wonderful staff. A must see and the price of admission is very low.

They don't wear masks or social distance, so be careful! Three of the four staff members weren't wearing anything over their faces and two of them were giving tours to people who weren't wearing masks. I understand the sign out front says that masks are mandatory, but they obviously aren't.

This museum is amazing! It contains the industrial history of greater Muskegon and has working engines and machines from many businesses from the past. The Snurf Board, original Raggedy Ann Doll (yes, made in a toy company from Muskegon), a Brunswick pin setter, and exhibits too numerous to mention in a review.
The displays are beautiful and extremely well-done. What a treat to see for ourselves and for our grandkids. Rotary phones, Occidental hotel switchboard, Kemperman's grocery store, sample Hathaway House boarding room, etc. etc.

Do you know where the expression “the real McCoy” originated? Have you ever seen an original Raggedy Ann doll and learned where her heart is located? Curious about how bowling alleys work behind the scenes? Seen the intricacies of a hand-manufactured filing/roll top desk up close?
It’s all here—-and so much more! What a treasure this place is. It may look small and unimposing from the outside, but wow! The displays, the docents, the equipment, the information are all excellent! Muskegon has an amazing history, with creative minds and manufacturing which impact our lives today. It’s all presented in a low-key and fascinating environment there at the museum.
Spend time .... your brain will be full and happy when you leave!

My dad and I toured the museum for Father’s Day. It was incredible to see the history of my hometown that he has told me about my whole life. Well done exhibits and knowledgeable staff.
