A small museum (30 minute visit). Interesting for anyone interested in poets, Dario, or Nicaraguan history. We learned a lot about Dario we had never read anywhere else. Very interesting.

Located several blocks away from the Parque Central, this museum is easily accessible by walking. There is a small park near by that has the full size statue of Ruben Diario plus busts of some other literary figures of Leon.

Entrance fee is $1 or 37 codobas. The guide told me to put my 50 cordobas in a box. He just smiled at me when I asked him for my change.

There are several rooms of exhiibits depicting the life story of Ruben Diario, his travels, literary works, books, bedroom, etc. Note that explanations are all in Spanish.

Once you are in Nicaragua, you keep hearing about and seeing paintings of Ruben Dario, the most famous poet and diplomat of the country. We went to this museum which was actually his childhood house. There were interesting photos and information about his life and his funeral. The story of his wives was really interesting.

Interesting way to spend an hour if you have a rainy day or if you are a fan of Ruben Dario. He is a national celebrity so perhaps it is more of a draw for locals. He was a Nicaraguan poet and credited for helping to modernize the Spanish language. We found that spending time around the nearby plaza was much more interesting and enjoyable for us.

Was not allowed in since I would not give a volunteer donation. I didn't bring not a single coin with me. Left all at hotel. Instead some young fellow with uniform sitting on a bench playing with his phone was very rude to us.
Shame on this filthy town of Leon shame on the ministry of tourism and arts.

Leon was a side trip chosen from literature from tour operators on a cruise. It is a long drive EACH WAY on 2 lane roads occupied by slow moving vehicles. The museum is Ruben Dario's home and has many period furnishings and family photos. NO PHOTOGRAPHY IS ALLOWED IN THE MUSEUM. The building and courtyard are lovely.

A pity that there are no original manuscripts (all sold to Madrid) and the great poet lived here as a child.

This museo former house of Nicaragua’s most famous poet is free of charge recommend donation. Very pleasing cool spot in bustling Leon. Neat to see inside a home of that time with some period furniture. Very nice display- all spanish. Worth the trip for history, literature, architecture nerds. Coffee shop Libeula next door is really good.
