It is not just a beach. Go past the first parking lot till you can’t go anywhere. I was told there was a waterfall but didn’t find them. But if you cut threw the woods you get to see a beach with some driftwood. Then drive up a little far and there is a maritime display. It is about coast guard n their boats. Found it interesting.

We ate lunch at the beach and enjoyed watching families play in the water, and the kayakers come back from their Pictured Rock tour. Lake Superior is cold, even in July, but that didn't seem to stop the children from frolicking in the shallow water. It is a beautiful beach

This was a highlight of our trip to Michigan. We went on a whim in the late evening so the beach was entirely deserted. We were just going to walk along the (powdery sandy) beach, but decided to jump in with our clothes on to get to the sand dune and then walk for quite a ways out into the late in knee deep water beyond that. It was a blast (and our short legged Corgi loved being in the water without having to work so hard!). Beautiful. A great stop.

This beach has beautiful soft sand with no rocks or gravel, and crystal clear blue water on the Lake Superior shore. The water was a bit chilly, but that is normal for this time of year. Plenty of room to spend the day here. Restrooms are at this site. A very enjoyable visit.

This is an easy beach to get to, and in mid-September we had it all to ourselves during most of our visit. I added some pictures with the sandbar, because some of the other pictures loaded did not contain it - the forces of water I guess. We just hung out for awhile in between visiting other locations, but it was a nice break and provided some great views of nature. The beach is dog friendly.

According to the weather channel and I can see why. Wish we'd had more time here but glad we carved out an afternoon to stay here. The long sandbar makes it feel safe. I can imagine what the sunsets look like from here. Would make that a priority next visit.

We stumbled on this beach by accident when we were driving around but it was such a clean beach and a beautiful spot with a view of the Grand Island light house. Not sure if there is more parking anywhere close by or not. it seemed there was limited parking on the street.

This beach is protected from the wind by the island and is very beautiful. There is an area that has pink sand, there is also an area where there is a small boat wreck that is still there from years ago. A park ranger told us that this is the only beach, in the area, that never has a riptide because the island protects it.

This is a beautiful, clean beach with very light crowds during both of our recent visits. Sunset on the beach is a must!

So you take in the waterfalls and head out to this beach. Sunset is beautiful and stroll on the beach was so peaceful.
I was surprised on how much "ocean like" this was. We visited in October which meant it was too cold to swim or play in the water. You can keep going down this road by the beach to head to more falls and viewpoints and light house. We instead opted to stay in for more than an hour before retiring to our hotel room.
Lake superior is truly a beast so large, so peaceful and deepest of all the great lakes. How did I miss the "pink sand" that so many others are marveling it. Pls don't miss it like we did. Unless I was too busy looking at Sunset, currents .

Greetings from sunny (and warm) Florida. I saw that you spent 10 days in the area. We're thinking of taking a little "roadie" up that way. Is 10 days enough time to see it all? Could you suggest the top places that you saw. I love waterfalls and lighthouses and can't get enough of either. Thanking you in advance for any info you can provide.

Actually, I live here and I still haven't seen it all. My husband and I always say we could take a weekend trip to a different destination in the UP and never run out of things to see.

Are their picnic tables or a playground at Sand Point Beach? Spending the morning there before the pictured rock cruise and have little kids to entertain and feed. Thanks!
