- SnowyShastaPortland, Oregon2,427 contributionsNot a lot of water but pretty surroundingsThis waterfall is quite easy to access, the parking lot is close to Munising town center, and the walk to the lower viewpoint is short and easy. There is also an upper viewpoint, which we also enjoyed, which requires climbing up some stairs and a slightly longer distance to reach. We found the perspectives from both locations different enough that we were glad we went to both. The actual waterfall here was fairly low volume, and not as impressive as others we saw at Pictured Rocks. But, the surrounding rocks and trees made it a pretty setting, and it was so easy to access that it was well worth the visit. We probably spent about 20 minutes in total walking to the viewpoints and enjoying the sights.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 5, 2023

Be advised that there is a fee to view the falls. However the fee is waived if you already have one of the U.S. Parks Service passes. Also, the boardwalk was being surveyed in October of 2023 and one of the workers indicated that they are planning on replacing the boardwalk in the future.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 15, 2023
- Little Homeschool Blessings447 contributionsFalls just by the visitor centerVery nice falls. A short walk from the Munising Visitor Center. There are two viewing platforms, both require steps. I liked the one on the left the best for the view. If you can only do one, I’d do that one. A park pass is required. A week park pass for the park is currently $25.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 27, 2024
- Theresa C55 contributionsNice waterfall at the visitors centerThe falls are located right behind the Visitors Center where you get your park pass for Pictured Rocks National Park. It's an easy walk on a paved path back to the falls. There are 2 upper viewing platforms- my kids wanted to go up of course and it was a fun climb up and down the steps and there are cool rock formations along the way. This is a quick 30 minute stop in total.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 26, 2024

Stunning waterfall was obscured by numerous people not wearing a mask and not maintaining social distancing. Please wear a dang mask and maintain social distancing. It makes it difficult to view the mask when someone is breathing on you without a mask on. WEAR A MASK.

I went with 2 of my adult children with 4 grandchildren to Sand Point Beach (which was wonderful!). To get there, we went past Munising Falls so decided to stop. That was a great idea!!! These falls are some of the best in the UP (and there are alot). There are 3 viewing areas- to get to one, you need to climb quite a few stairs although they're not real steep. We went to all the areas and I thought the highest one was the best. The rangers had a table set up with information and were very friendly. I would recommend these falls if you're anywhere near Munising (or maybe even make a special trip).

This is a nice easy walk to a beautiful waterfall. The path to the lower viewpoint is easy, with the upper viewpoint requiring climbing some stairs. If possible, you should try to visit both the lower and upper viewpoints.
There was a trailer with rangers at the entrance, but otherwise there was no visitor center in mid-September, 2022, although it looked like there was some building going on. There was ample signage and the rangers were helpful. The trail is dog friendly.

It's a short walk (sign says 800 ft) from the park Visitor's Center to the falls. There are two viewing decks, a larger lower one and a smaller upper one.
No, it's not the most spectacular falls in the area, but for the ease of access it's worth it.

Don't miss out on this gem, we were able to do this 1/4 mile walk in and my husband just had knee replacement surgery last month. There were a few slight elevations but the path was very smooth and the view was certainly worth the effort. I wish we could have tried the stair trails but something to do next time.

Lots of parking to see this beautiful fall. Pictured Rock National Park charges a fee to visit - if you don't have a park pass, this is a place you can buy it from the ranger. If you have one already, just put your pass on your front dash of your car.

We spent much of the afternoon driving through Pictures Rocks, enjoying the sites and some day hikes along the way. This site is right in town as you drive in from the east. There are bathrooms here. Short hike on a paved path out to a nice waterfall.

Easy hike and worth the time. Beautiful falls. The trees are turning and the walk was nice too. There is a small ranger station there. It is closed but there was a ranger stationed outside with the NPS passport stamps which we greatly appreciated

Munising Falls is a short hike from the parking lot and Visitor Center. It's mostly paved all the way to the bottom of the falls. There are stairs up to get a higher view and a bit closer to the falls, which allows a different angle for pictures. There isn't a ton of stairs, so it's worth the climb. There isn't a lot of effort involved, which make this s pretty popular stop, so it will probably be fairly busy any time of the day.

Are these falls and all the ones east of them part of the park that has an entry fee? I'm assuming so, and the few falls west of Munising aren't - so are they free to park and visit? Thanks!

We are looking for a waterfall to get married in front of for a very small (10 people) wedding on July 4, 2019. Do we need to get permission to do this?

How kid-friendly is the walk to the falls? Our 5yo would be walking and we’d be carrying our 2.5yo and 1yo in packs.

It is mainly uphill, but paved. I would think a 5 year old used to hiking could do it. Hopefully you are planning on this for summer, winter can be pretty severe there.

I think you will be fine. I'm 72 and walk with a cane, but it was do-able.

Does the visitors center have to be open to be able to go to the falls?

We are bringing our dog on the trip. Is this a hike that we would be able to bring our children and dog on?

Stop into the Explore Munising travel center next to Hardee's restaurant. They have all the info you will need about where you can go with your pets and where you can't. The staff there are very friendly.

Whats really nice about most of the waterfalls in munising are free. That is the best part!!! But if your looking for some falls that are off the grid you have got to go check out AuTrain Falls. It is hidden a little in the woods and it can be a little hike but my 6 year old hiked it so it isnt too bad but it is steep. There are many falls to go see. I have reveiwed the ones I have visited! AWSOME!
