The place captured my heart and soul. Old structures were preserved and there are lots of attractions within walking disfance only. You can ride the 'kalesa' for just Php 150.00/hour. It will tour you around vigan. You could also choose to rent a tricycle for php 500.00 unlimited time. There are so much history. I love how even normal fastfood restaurants and local shops have that old structure vibe. It is said if you are going to build a structure within a 100 meter parameter range in calle crisologo it should have that same old structure or spanish design. This is a must visit place in the Philippines. It is one of the wonder cities of the world. I love how quaint and rustic the place is.

Visited this place sometime February of last year. I grew up in Philippines but it was my first time that our family visited the place. The place is amazing, it is very historic and thanks for the local government of the Vigan Citu for preserving this pre-historic houses.

It's a must to visit Vigan.
The oldest living town/city in the Philippines.
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is one of the few towns in the Philippines whose old architectural structures have remained intact and functional and It's called a living museum.
Declared a Philippine National Heritage.
The following are recommended Ancestral/Mansion homes converted to 3/4/5 star accommodation in Vigan.
VIGAN PLAZA HOTEL- One of the pioneers/ literally in the center of the town plaza/church/... nostalgic, old, antique, authentic well preserved and well restored.
Upgraded & modernized thoughtfully w/ care respect to the origin, endless stairs to heaven of wealthy aristocrats...
(I heard it's owned by the Singson family)
CIUDAD FERNANDINO - All white motiff/ new, clean, crisp, neat, fresh and done w/ impeccable taste.
HOTEL LUNA - Classic
MY VIGAN HOME - Friendly staff, old feel, wooden floors would creak when you walk impressive formal dining that could seat a dozen or more people/ love their courtyard.
I love their humungous wooden stairs inspired by the spanish architecture.
Grandpa's Inn - Homey
Travel back in time at the most famous street called CALLE CRISOLOGO.
Rich in history & culture.
Feel like Maruja and Gabriel/ old Spanish movie characters...
You would think who would have lived in these mansions and where did they get the money??
Take the kalesa(horse driven carriage) and roam by foot to visit museums. We walked early in the morning @ dawn before sunrise and feel/appreciate the place on foot and walk on the famous cobblestone of calle Crisologo.
And dine at night under the stars via al fresco when most of the restaurants & cafes set up the tables & chairs outside. Suddenly it's Fiesta and soo festive. Vigan is famous for their garlic langonisa(sausage), bagnet(triple cooked crispy pork) & empanada(pastry).
***We also took a day tour on a private van to see the neighboring towns, churches & the beach.(Paoway church, Pagudpud beach, lighthouse, etc,etc,...).
We took the bus from Manila and intended to stay for the weekend but we ended up staying for a week...

Came here on my first trip to the Philippines. Everywhere you look is something historic and interesting. Great food, friendly people. Interesting sights all around. Was worth the long ride from Manila.

A completely different world when you visit Vigan herritage village. We enjoyed it so much and just spent the day wandering around the village. We tried the kalesa and we had lots of fun and learnt so much from our guide. Going to Vigan is a highly recommended place!

The City of Vigan has kept this areas charm. Mostly tourist shops, it is still worth a stroll through the streets. Safe, charming and fun. Many places to eat and stay in the area. Would recommend staying in the area so you can walk the streets in the evening.

This whole village covers the streets , plazas bordering the entire Vigan central city. It represents a colonial Spanish town that was somehow preserved . Because of this , it was accorded the UNESCO heritage site recognition. Exploring the entire place might take 2 hours at least . But it is to everyone’s pacing. From the renowned Calle Crisologo to other streets intersecting it, to Plaza Salcedo, the churches. Even the fast food outlets are build to synch with the ancient heritage theme. Definitely worth visiting and exploring.

I flew from Singapore via Jetstar to Manila. I stayed in Makati for one night before taking a night Partas bus from Pasay to this historic town. The bus fare was 1580pesos. The bus was new and very clean but surprisingly the seats do not have seat belts except the first row. Wonder if accident would result in more catastrophic effect. We departed Pasay at 9.30 am and reached Vigan bus terminal at 3.30 am.
Vigan inherited a stunningly beautiful spanish architectural colonial village from the Spaniards, her first colonial master. It is not just a piece of asset like the awesome A Formosa Portuguese fortress or the magnificent Stadhuys (Dutch Red House) or the impressive British Fort Cornwallis in Penang but rather a whole spanish village built in 16th century.
The heritage village is well preserved like the original state and qualify as a UNESCO site. It is a pleasure unwinding myself walking among the many old colonial buildings and appreciating the antiques and souvenirs. The souvenirs sold here were art pieces copying the craftmanship inherited fron the spaniards.
The village looks gorgeous at different time of the day. I am sure you will take your precious time to enjoy this place.
