We completed the panorama route drive around Blyde River Canyon last week, making our way through Graskop, Sabie, around the Canyon and all the way to Hoedspruit. The drive is lovely, affording many nice viewpoints, waterfalls, fruit stands and other bits to feast your eyes...More

We stayed in Graskop (Westlodge B&B) A beautiful spot from which to explore The Panorama Route. Luckily we had superb weather and light crowds. Because we stopped at every sighting whist driving away from Graskop, we spent nearly 6 hours sightseeing and driving that day....More

Relax during the tour to the different “spots and stops”. Rondavels, Potholes, views and waterfalls... especially when the weather is good

We found this area views very beautiful and there where places to stop and take photographs, unfortunately these where very busy and the viewing points not very people friendly. One of our ladies slipped due the amount of people trying to cram into the small...More

The roads in the area are heavily eroded by logging trucks and it makes it tricky to enjoy the views. Each waterfall or scenic site costs R10 per person (cash only), so that needs to be factored in. Do ask for tickets, to ensure compliance....More

Please do not skip the Panoramaroute. Stops are indicated clearly and it is a short walk to the viewpoints. Toilets available at most stops.

This route is great and is always great to drive to see the escarpment of the Drakensburg. Here one can stop at the various lookout points and waterfalls till one gets to Blyde River Canyon.

The panorama route takes about 5-6 hours to complete and it is really nice but not great. If you have the time, go for it, when be aware that it gets very crowded.

The drive from Hazyview to Graskop was worth the ride, however beware of the potholes!! We were there in July 2018 and were warned about the potholes on the road so it seems that it is a problem that may have existed for some time...More

Hi Josh, Would recommend a night in Graskop. The scenic route Graskop to Bourke's Luck is worthwhile and a fine example of the South African escarpment. Probably need to check at Klaserie whether best to head for Graskop... More

Some good points from the previous responses. Graskop is a good base for your tour of the Panorama Route. Try not to cram all your visits into 1 day, spread them out and visit at leisure. You are on holiday, so enjoy. Set... More
