This was so cool! You can see the springs bubbling at the bottom and the water is literally crystal clear. Tons of fish and a really peaceful place to check out.

Very beautiful spring fed lake. The color of the water is very unique. There are large lake trout in the water. You view the lake through a glass bottom in the center of a raft which you pull out onto the lake by hand using a wheel. If you are not a resident entry will cost you $10. Not much else to do there other than take in the lake or picnic so you can see pretty much see everything in less than an hour. Manistique is a nice little town with a pretty waterfront.

It honestly is quite surreal how beautiful this place is. It is not that big but the whole view looks straight out of a postcard.

First of all, it's hard to find this place, and we even had a map from the hotel we were staying at. When you get to the parking lot there are no signs that tell you that you're at the right place, and no signs that point out the way to the raft. But once you get there, it's really worthwhile. The raft will probably hold 30 people, and someone on it (that's me) provides the power to move it across the pond. We got there early and we were the only ones there so we moved ourselves and the raft over the pond and back. We are 80 & 79 years old, and didn't have much difficulty doing that. The water is absolutely clear so you can see everything very clearly. There is no vegetation growing in the pond, so I wonder what the fish eat. The fish are large, and they follow the raft over and back. When you get past about halfway you can clearly see the springs that feed the pond. It was well worth the trip to see this place, and I'm glad we found it.

We were told about this place from a nice women at the Garlyn Zoo. We were so happy to go there. It only cost money for the state park fee and that was only $10 for the day. Once in the park it was a short walk to the natural spring. The raft that is driven by someone turning the wheel takes you out to the middle of the spring. There is an area in the middle of the raft which you can look down in the water. The water is so clear and you can see fish. It is a dmsafe raft thst is attached to cables and locks once you are at the dock. It holds a lot of people. Great place to see. There are bathrooms and a gift shop there.

It is very pretty to see on a sunny day. The line was VERY long to ride the viewing platform that goes back and forth across the water so we did not get to do that. It is a great quick stop on your drive through the UP.
