Overview
More
A point in the storm and a guiding beacon since 1889, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse helped passing ships navigate through the treacherous waters of the Straits of Mackinac. There's just as much to see from the top of the tower as inside the original buildings. Authentically restored quarters and exhibits, including the original lens and the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Museum, this "Castle of the Straits" is a true gem of the Great Lakes.

Well this was cool even in the winter. Great for pictures. We want to come back in summer. Looks like they have a remodel company there now....can’t wait to go back! Beautiful view of the mackinaw bridge. Great walking path as well.

Our visit was in January and the snow and ice covered most of the Great Lakes but everything we saw was still gorgeous!

Mackinaw city is truly beautiful. The lighthouse has so much history. It sits close to the bridge. Nice place to spend the day. Great pictures.

Stopped at the Park and walked around the Lighthouse, looked for Petoskey stones, and took pictures of the bridge. Wonderful views and some very nice homes nearby as well. Weather was a bit damp and chilly, but it was still a worthwhile stop.

Had the tour of the tower with my kids, they loved it! Including the fog horn! My 8yr old was suprised how LOUD it was (guess she didn't realize how loud it is SUPPOSED to be!)

It is a very cute lighthouse with a small historic village. Unfortunately things close down in the winter but you can still walk around outside. There is free parking and you can get great pictures of the bridge.

Not only is the lighthouse beautiful to look at but the lake view and the bridge ti the upper peninsula is fantastic from here. The gift shop and lighthouse was clised but you can still get wonderful pictures.

This restored lighthouse was closed for the season but signs provided some history. The area is nicely preserved.

Wow. What a beautiful setup. The home is very large by lighthouse standards. It does resemble a castle when viewed from the water side.
