Beautiful Grounds
May 2021
We stumbled on this site quite by accident. The grounds are beautiful. There is a natural amphitheater set up for events. Looked like there was a stage set for performances. I imagine it is really nice on a summer eve to star gaze.

Star gazing
Aug 2020
This is an absolutely wonderful place to catch a sunset or do some star gazing. There is a short walk from the parking lot to the viewing area and you should bring your own chair or a blanket for the lawn. There is almost no light pollution to interfere with star gazing. You might want to bring a flashlight for the walk back to the car. The path has some lighting, but you might want a little more. I recommend going for the sunset and hanging out to watch the stars.

Great in daytime too
Oct 2020 • Couples
A one-mile trail where you get an overview of the planets. Beautiful artwork at each of the 10 stations as well. Unfortunately for us, it was a cloudy day, so we drove through during daylight hours. Will be returning one day to enjoy the beauty of an evening there

One Word ... BREATHTAKING
Oct 2020 • Couples
We went during the day to get the lay of the land. There were several tiny beaches to explore and hike to. On the way in, every 10th of a mile is a station to read about the planet's. But at night ... We have never seen so many stars. With the lapping of the lake and the starry sky, it's easy to sit and enjoy the night sky. Take lawn chairs, a red flashlight (No white light allowed) and a blanket if it's chilly. It'll be about 10 degrees colder on the waterfront than inland. But spray if it's mosquito season.

Great place to see the stars
Sep 2020
This park is very unique. Once parked there is a lighted path that takes you down to the water and there are benches that you can sit on and observe the stars. Occasionally there will be people there to explain all the stars and constellations you are seeing

Best nightime sky viewing inthe area!
Sep 2020
An unseasonably warm September night gave way to the most amazing viewing spot we've experienced. There is ample space to safely distance yourselves. The paths are well lit for night there are clean facilities on the grounds as well.

Nice park and trails
Aug 2020
We went here because our daughter wanted to hopefully star gaze and see some northern lights. Our parking lot held maybe 70 cars. Facility is nice right on Lake Michigan. Bathrooms. Gift shop. They had a wedding going on at the time we were there. Hiked a little. Set up the chairs. Saw an amazing sunset over Lake Michigan. Some clouds. 9:15pm slight clouds but could see some stars. By 10:00pm full cloud cover. Trip was a bust. No ones fault. We'll try again another time.

If you like viewing the night sky, and you are going to be in the area this is a must stop. the darkness over lake Michigan on a new moon night is site to see. The only complaint we have is the road going in and out is very narrow.

Star Gazer Heaven
Sep 2020 • Couples
We visited 2 nights in a row on our trip. We didn’t know anything about it the first night and stayed in the parking lot. After 10-15 minutes, our eyes adjusted and the stars were beautiful. The second night looked to be clearer and we had our phone set for a red background. We walked down to the viewing area at the beach. Amazing setup with red lights along the path and at the site. Unfortunately, even though the sky seemed to be clearer, the stars were very hazy. I think this is a wonderful spot and worth the time (very close to town but remote) to try to see the Milky Way or just enjoy the stars. Very romantic spot! They say the Milky Way is best seen not long after sunset.

Amazing
Aug 2020 • Couples
Ok...there is a nights sky and then there is this place. Absolutely amazing is really an understatement. The sky is so clear and so full of stars. Its like a country sky on steroids. We went on a friday night and we had to wait to get in, about 30 minutes. It was well worth the wait thou. My wife and i took a blanket and laid out for about 45 minutes. We saw at least 8 shooting stars and many constellations. Defenitely worth the time but not a place for kids.
