You can make this a long or short trip; it will depend on how often you park and walk the trails. It was really busy when we went; at one stop, we had to go past it, park at the next stop and walk back....More

While the drive itself consists of a small winding road through a dense forest we found that the scenic views are what really make this drive worth it. The sunset view from the dune outlook was spectacular with quite a few people thinking the same...More

Trip is a little over 7 miles and requires pass or fee. Well worth the time. Various points have excellent views. Large deck overlooking Lake Michigan at the end.

Beautiful scenic drive on our way to the Dunes. Windy tree lined road leads to great photo opps. We were there in June but they still had their spring flowers.

This was definitely a highlight of our Sleeping Bear Dunes trip. Be advised that as you enter the drive you will need to show your park pass or purchase one. I had my 4th grader with me and there is currently a national program that...More

Worth it, with great views of the park and area. Family enjoyed it and the kids were amazed by this area of Michigan.

Easy drive with a lot of scenic outlooks, hiking trails and places to relax and picnic. Check out sleeping bear dune lookout and watch people attempt the dune climb.

We really enjoyed this drive. The highlight was one of the last pull-offs where you can get out and appreciate the dunes as they meet Lake Michigan. There is a boardwalk that leads to a wooden overlook deck where the panorama is spectacular. Some folks...More

The Pierce Stocking drive is by far the best introduction to this park. It has bits of all the best aspects of the park. The Empire Bluff trail is very good, especially in Spring and early Summer when the walk to the lake... More

It is a one way drive. One turns into the park just south of the dunes. If you have a pass it is free. It is 30 minutes if you don't stop. Caution on going down the dunes to Lake Michigan. Coming back up is extremely... More

If you can, go in the spring, summer or fall. You will miss a great deal in the winter, and the roads may be a tad treacherous. Keep in mind the rates for hotels go up significantly in the areas from Memorial Day to Labor... More
