Be careful with parking! Most venues will sell more tickets for an event than available parking, without getting towed and a huge expense.
We seen the Super- Cross show last on Saturday at Ford Field. We came aways to the city for this event. When we got there, the parking structure was full.
Only parking left was shifty looking lots that seemed to be a scam with people taking parking money when they don't own the property.
We parked along the side with about 30 other vehicles with the same problem if 'where to park?'.
It was not in a spot where it was harming anyone or blocking.
We all came out to our vehicles being towed aqay and unavailable to Monday.
The cost and fee's we're about $300 after all said and done.
It's a money grab towing scam there so beware!

So the concierge at Marriot Hotel books this cab for us
I will contact Marriot seperately to confirm their cabs are not appropriate to recommend to any guest or visitor to Detroit
He took us 2kms and demand $130 in cash. Have we been mugged I’d say yes.
He will say his card machine does not work.
Get this driver off the road !
We will not return to Detroit with this type of Hostility displayed in hotels and transportation services

Crazy people, crazy things happening within the confined radius of "downtown Detroit". Feels like an out-of-control circus. And stay away from Greektown! Unfortunately, that clientele has moved into the downtown's condensed area between Circus Park and Campus Martius Park. And, the homeless is a pitiful sight, hard to ignore. Too bad downtown is not spread out with small and affordable innovative shops!

If you STAY ANYWHERE. and I mean ANY WHERE in Downtown Detroit you WILL STAY UP ALL NIGHT until 4am due to the constant drag racing, beeping cars. loud crowds at ourdoor bars, and Very loud music from literally all over the streets. We stayed on the 29th floor and you can hear all the noise as if you were in a two flat.

I've had the pleasure to share downtown Detroit with friends and family on three different occasions recently. On each occasion, we found a place to park the car and started walking. Down Woodward Avenue from the Fox Theatre district all the way south to the Detroit River. We made numerous stops along the way: Fox Theatre building business lobby to see its 1928 ceiling and and enjoyed the bronze Little Ceasars statue; David Whitney Building for its beautifully restored atrium lobby; Woodward Avenue with all its changes as buildings are restored; the under-construction Hudson's block; Campus Martius and all its history; the Compuware Building and its indoor waterfall and art; the Spirit of Detroit Plaza (a very popular photo op); the Joe Louis Fist; Hart Plaza with its historical markers, statues, and public art; and the Detroit Riverfront where you can see across to Canada (the only place where Canada is geographically south of the United States). Off the main thoroughfare, we also walked through Huntington Place to see art depicting Detroit's history and historical figures, stopped in the Guardian Building to see its beautiful Art Deco entrance and lobby; strolled through the Belt Alley (there are several new downtown alleys to check out); stopped in at the Library Street Collective art gallery; went to the top of the Z Garage to check out the city views and the commissioned art on each of its 10 floors. Detroit's downtown history, art, and architecture is awesome, and I love sharing it! All three groups that I walked about downtown (family, friends from the west side of Michigan, and friends from Ohio) all totally enjoyed our walking adventures around downtown Detroit! Be sure to have a restaurant or two in mind before you go so that you have a planned pitstop.

Took a nice walk through downtown to the river front. It was fun to look across the water and see Canada. There's some cool architecture and sculptures downtown. Look out for the murals.

I love downtown Detroit. There is so much to see and do. The People Move and Q Line make transport around downtown so easy.

Yesterday 8/13 our Big D was amazing!!! Our tour guide Karin was a major part of the tour's success. SHE was so knowledgeable. She knew the history and present status of Detroit's art, sports, food, architecture, and presented the information in an interesting manner. She was ALSO kind and generous. Offering us water and Detroit style potato chips. In addition she heard a child was hungry and stopped at local Coney style hot dog place and bought everyone an iconic Detroit style hot dog.
She was also relentless with her schedule and or where roads were blocked. Nothing was going to come in this tour's "way". She had our bus driver doing all kinds of moves for us to city all the sites, with honesty and love and hope for a beautiful city. Karin is the real deal of tour guides.

hola viajeros!!! cual es el consejo para desplazarme desde toronto a detroit?
de antemano, muchas gracias
A big city with a small city feel. Very accessible and friendly. If you move here you will often run into people you know.
A city with world class art museums, Music and theater as good as NYC.
It still has a way to go but you will be pleasantly surprised.
