This was the only area we felt safe walking around in for multiple blocks, add to it the many great food options and this was definitely the best part of downtown Detroit....

Mike is the only friendly bartender. All others are slow and NOT friendly. Over priced food and drinks.

I went in the middle of the week. Most places were closed, thus cannot give a honest or fair rating at this time.

Visited Greektown after asking around for a good area to grab a drink with lively atmosphere and music. This area is so much fun! The crowd seemed a little younger. I went to level two rooftop bar. Mostly hip hop music. Solid drinks. Great vibes. Definitely would recommend to twenty somethings looking to party/dance.

We absolutely love visiting Detroit and that is mainly for the fun we have hanging out in Greektown. Detroit truly has to be created one of the most incredible transformations I know of. There is so much to offer now and Greektown is one of the high points. We can't wait to return!

I’ve stayed here for years but every time the service and employee’s attitudes get worse. A majority of the hotel and casino staff are acting like your bothering them to do order or ask for anything.
Tonight Evelyn made sure to talk and take her time so that the 11:00 could come around and she can tell me she was closed. I was there for ten minutes. When I asked for a manager of course none are around. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place, i will be from now on.
The MGM is very close and closer to the hockey rink, or the downtown Weston is great too with wonderful staff.

Greektown is ok but not like it was 30 years ago. I can remember waiting outside in the cold at 3 AM to get into Hellas on a Saturday night. The good old days.

Such a fun little corner of Detroit! Great restaurants, pizza places, shops of all sorts jumbled in cosy fashion. One can go exploring or just stay in Greektown for shopping, dinner, and at least a dozen desserts!

How far is Greektown from the Detroit airport? How far is Greektown from MGM Grand?

Greektown is actually about a 28 minute walk from the MGM. You can shave off several minutes by getting on the People Mover (Times Square stop is the closest to the MGM). The People Mover drops you off at the Greektown exit, immediately entering the Greektown Casino, for 75 cents per person, per ride.
The trip back on the People Mover is even more scenic going by the Detroit River, with a quick view of Windsor, Canada.

Which Greek restaurant offers the most authentic food and is most highly recommended? We do not have a long time to spend in Detroit and want to sample the best.

New Parthenon or Pegasus are my personal preferences for authentic Greek. I like the ambience better at Pegasus; it's a little more low key and upscale as opposed to the "loud" atmosphere you get at NP. I'd use your judgment on whether you want open & loud or dark & quiet. They both have good food.
