The Keweenaw National Historical Park is an incredible array of buildings, ruins, industrial sites, and abandoned mines. The Keweenaw is dripping with history and it's great that the National Park Service is dedicating resources to preserve and restore unique sites. Their Visitor Center in the...More

Lots of people travel to this part of Michigan to visit ISLE ROYALE and forget about the Copper Mining. Here you learn how big the industry was in Michigan. Great exhibits and short filmis

Visitor center had some interesting displays. This Park is unusual in that it is a collection of sites scattered through the UP. Some are privately owned, therefore have fees! Interesting to walk around town of Calumet with it's collection of historic buildings.

Very nice and informative displays. Free and convenient. When you leave you will have a real feel for turn of the century life in this area.

There are several historic sites on the Keweenaw peninsula. The sites are from the early 1900 and center around copper mining on the Peninsula

The Keweenaw National Park is a relatively new part of the US National Parks. The people in the Peninsula have done an excellent job in preserving their history and making it come alive! Make sure your kids take part in the Jr. Ranger Experience!

We were disappointed that it was closed on Sunday, especially since the tourist season here is so short. The displays were good, the building restoration was gorgeous but....one has to wonder about the expense versus the reward of doing this at this level.
