The monument is very impressive and the museum is well worth a visit if you are in the Somme area. The visit is free and the museum contains displays showing the involvement of all South Africans in the Great War.

We were with a friend who’d spent a significant part of her life in South Africa. South Africans (black and white), ANZACS, Tommies, Canadians, French, Moroccans, it matters not, the slaughter was unimaginable. And lets not forget the Germans ... This place is very moving...More
