About
Climb aboard the Mayflower II to share the experience of the Mayflower Pilgrims in 1620 when the Pilgrims crossed from England to America. A gift from the U.K. to the U.S. in 1957 for their friendship during the Second World War, this boat is a full-scale reproduction of the real Mayflower that sailed the Atlantic Ocean for 66 days. Here, you can enjoy the captain’s quarters, gallery and even below deck, lead by the boat’s handy guides.
Entrance to the boat can be bought alongside other local attractions like the Plimoth Grist Mill. – Tripadvisor

- TWBCincinnati, Ohio2,464 contributionsThird TourThird visit, still worth the imaginary time travel. Spent about 45 minutes wandering about the ship, checking out views and listening to one of the employees spew knowledge of the ship's sailing mechanisms. Unique experience with fun photo opportunities. The online combo tickets are the way to go, if you are willing to dedicate a day or more to touring Plymouth.Visited September 2022Written May 28, 2023
- girlyguideWest Sussex, United Kingdom115 contributionsIt's empty! We bought this joint ticket with the plimouth patuxet museum. This was the better of the two. The actual ship is great and the staff were knowledgeable, like the village there is no signage or detail on the ship so you rely on asking the staff the right questions. We were a bit disappointed that it's empty. Some "staging" of belongings or beds or something would have helped understanding a lot. (We have since visited USS Constitution which did this really well.)Visited June 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten June 24, 2023
- Trevor_from_MIMichigan185 contributionsGood HistoryThis is historians' best guess what the Mayflower was like, based on 17th Century cargo ships. We got to see the living conditions of the Pilgrims as they crossed the ocean. It's a good learning experience, especially as part of the Pimoth Museums ticket package.Visited July 2022Traveled with familyWritten June 30, 2023
- Jonathan MTuxedo Park, New York552 contributionsStep Aboard and Leave the Old World BehindWe found our visit to the Mayflower II very enlightening. It is one thing to know from history that over a hundred hearty souls made a trip across the Atlantic, it is quite another to go below deck and wonder how they survived in such a small space. The included exhibits were thought provoking as well as they encouraged you to consider the circumstances and decisions that motivated the variety of individuals that made the journey.Visited June 2023Written July 31, 2023
- dustythoughtsManchester, Connecticut2,058 contributionsInteresting historical insightsThis ship is supposed to be a faithful interpretation of the original 17th-century Mayflower, and apart from a few modern additions (electric lighting), it was a really interesting insight into life aboard a ship for months on end. It's sea-worthy (it was built in England and sailed to the US). They have exhibits aboard the ship to approximate how things would've been aboard the ship - it was fascinating to learn about how people lived at this time.Visited May 2023Written August 13, 2023
- K P4 contributionsOur HistoryWe watched them restore the ship while in Mystic a few yrs ago, then saw her lowered into water. Due to covid, we missed her sailing date. It was wonderful to see her complete in all her Glory sitting at the dock. She will be taken back to Mystic perhaps this winter and we will make effort to be there to see her arrive.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 26, 2023
- Laurel MCalgary, Canada833 contributionsGreat historyWe toured the Mayflower ll after visiting Plimoth Patuxet Village. Parked for free by the Grist Mill and walked down to the harbour. Stopped to look at the Plymouth Rock then boarded the ship. Lots of staff on board to answer your questions of which I had lots. They are very knowledgeable and it’s worth your while to chat with them. The ship is much smaller than I imagined and it must have been a terrible passage for those first Quakers.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 28, 2023
- gefilte63Beachwood, Ohio709 contributionsGreat Restored Model of the MayflowerThe Mayflower II was a highlight of our visit to Plymouth. It was really interesting to see what the ship would have looked like; it is amazing that something that size made it across the Atlantic in one piece with so many people on board. Guides on the ship give explanations so it is really an educational experience. This is a must-see if you're in Plymouth.Visited July 2023Traveled with friendsWritten August 29, 2023
- GabrielsMom2014Rochester, New York19 contributionsGreat Staff and Experience!Knowledgable staff, and plenty of them to answer questions and provide historical information! We had seen this several years before when children were much younger and it was good but this time with the older kids asking questions and exploring it, the experience was great! Went right at opening and parking was plenty, ship was not at all crowded. An hour or more later, saw a lot of people coming to the area and was glad we went early.Visited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten September 1, 2023
- Tom G86 contributionsFascinatingFascinating and informative time on the Mayflower II, a 1957 replica of the ship which transported the Pilgrims to Plymouth in 1620. Unhurried, excellent guides, faithful reproduction of living conditions, map room, windlass, sails, rigging, and the like. Time aboard was over an hour. First-class display boards and plenty to interest kids too. Situated at the centre of the Plymouth waterfront, this is a must-see.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 22, 2023

Was excited to show my children the ship they've been asking to see since they were able to speak of Thanksgiving. Although not mentioned anywhere else, a piece of paper on the ticket window stated, "closed". My best guess would be, too close in proximity to the Cole's Hill where National Day of Mourning meeting was held on Thanksgiving... We stayed in town and were determined to tour the beautifully crafted ship the next day. The schedule said 9am...the ticket booth opened a little after 9:30am...when some of the tourists were getting ready to leave. Perhaps too much turkey the day before made the staff just a little annoyed to be working on Friday, so we didn't get the same level of interaction as at the English village just the day before. I'd say, take some pictures of the shore and explore the Cole's Hill instead.

It is amazing to believe that the first pilgrims crossed the Atlantic in this tiny ship, touring the ship really brings this experience to life. The staff throughout the ship are very friendly and knowledgeable, eager to share their knowledge and history of the ship. We were glad we didn't miss this experience.

The people on the ship describing ship life are very good. They gave a great presentation and answered many questions. The people that sailed on a ship like that were tough. The kids were loving it.

Can you just show up, buy a ticket and go onboard the same day or do you need an advanced reservation? Is there someone on board that gives a tour?

Yes, we did the Mayflower tour on a whim while we were waiting for our whale watch time. There were numerous historians located around the ship and on the outside of the ship to provide information and answer questions, and I must say they were very knowledgeable!
can I view the outside of the mayflower without buying a ticket?

you can see the outside of ship from the pier but in order to get closer, you need to buy a ticket which then leads you through this maze of a few pictures and some "facts' strung up on the make shift walls (think sheets hang up like an office cubicle). IMO, was NOT worth the $15 because the boat was empty, NOTHING was inside (props, sacks of food/flour/etc, furniture) and no tour guide to 'talk' about the adventure.
Hi, does the Mayflower II take people out for a sail, or is this just a walk aboard tour?
Janet Y
Plymouth, United States
Sorry my reply is late, I'm seeing this question for the first time today, September 2nd. The Mayflower is docked at the State Pier at Pilgrim Memorial State Park and is a stationary exhibit. You may step aboard the ship and learn the history of the ship and see the quarters of the crew, captain and where the Pilgrims were below deck during the voyage of 1620.

We had the Boston go cards that included the Mayflower II so I can't say how much it costs but you might want to check out the Boston go card if you want to do more than the Mayflower. I would definitely recommend the walking tour @the Jenney Museum

I have a 34 foot fifth wheel pulled by a Ford F250. Is there suitable parking for a vehicle this size?

The Mayflower is on the State Pier, downtown on the waterfront. There is angle street parking for a good-sized truck, but not for the trailer. About a half-mile north, maybe a quarter-mile beyond the Town Pier and the rotary, there is a big parking lot that can handle tour buses (we see a lot of those).
Also on the Town Wharf behind the East Bay Grille is the public boat landing with room for cars with boat trailers. I do not know if there are rules about non-boat trailers there.
Check out the Google Map of the area with Street View to see if it might suit your needs.
