Had an amazing hour listening to Mother Bear telling us of the history of the Wampanoag Indians located in Mashpee on Cape Cod & the lives they led pre & post the arrival of Europeans to the (now) USA. Very impressive array of her family...More

A small building that is non discript. Inside artifacts and portraits of many generations of Wampanoag history. A member of the tribe is the commentator and well informed about the tribal history, generations of her family and traditions of Native Americans. The tribe in Mashpee...More

It isn't the richness of the artifacts on display but the personalized narrative by the docent that makes this museum a gem. The tribe's story is told intelligently and with wry humor. Be sure to visit the exterior dwelling to learn about their historic daily...More

It was an amazing place. You learned so much about the past. It was just enjoyable and fun. I would go back again.

Not too much, but plenty of rich and clearly-presented information on the local history by the people who know "the rest of the story"! For a culture that prefers oral history, they've done a magnificent job of telling their story with pictures, art, artifacts, charts,...More

Small museum, worth the trip. No admission fee (donation box). Local docent brought the museum to life. Besides the usual artifacts and maps, an authentic winter lodge is recreated out back. Set aside about an hour.

The Wampanoag museum in Mashpee is a treasure, indeed. The history of the people that saved the Pilgrims is one we should all know.

This site might not look like much from the road, but it is full of Mashpee history! My husband and I decided to take an official tour of the site, and our guide was fantastic. She, herself, has Mashpee Wampanoag heritage and was very well...More
