The museum has an extensive collection of Maine minerals and gems. They sell some exquisite jewelry made from these indigenous minerals and gems. It is very educational, and displays are well designed.

Even though there is more to complete in the museum, it is a fascinating place to visit. The outside exhibits of various large blocks of mineral are an interesting feature.

The Rock garden is great, isn't it? Our permanent exhibits will be installed later this Summer/Fall and we will have our Grand Opening sometime after that.

Great intellectual experience. It has been a long time coming but it is a world class venue and research site. A must see. Largest meteorite collection in the world!!

They have a nice collection of rocks and gems from the area. Be watchful of items you may want to purchase. Many are "Made in China"

Though while we were there they were doing extensive renovations but what we saw made us sad that we missed the entire tour of the museum. It is sure to be amazing once the renovation are completed. I do recommend this for everyone.
