Shocking roads to get there!
Mar 2022
I visited March 2022. BE WARNED that the road in and out of the area is is VERY POOR condition and you have a high chance of getting stuck or damaging your car. I used my navigator from Carmen and the default 'shortest route' was an absolute disaster. Heavily damaged road, large deep holes, areas under repair and construction. We were driving a regular sedan and JUST made it trough. There were times I needed to stop and ask the workers to flatten deep ruts left by the trucks. The car behind me managed to damage under their vehicle. Upon arriving you must park your car, pay a small entrance fee of around 75 pesos and then pay another fee of 100 pesos to be driven the rest of the way to the entrance of the falls on the back of a motorbike. Note that you will get wet, the bridge crossing the falls was destroyed and you must walk through the water to the other side holding a rope. At the end when you are taken back to the place where you park your car you are offered a rice field tour for around 100p. WELL WORTH IT!!! Upon returning to collect my car we were advised that if we continue on the road we will eventually exit the area. We were also told that the road to leave should have been the road used to come in as well however since the navigator takes the shortest route it took us a totally bad way. IE the 'longer way' to get there is the slightly better road to use. The exit road was not much better. If you want to visit this site I STRONGLY suggest you ride in by motorbike / SUV or 4x4 or get driven there by a tour company. So, please ask before driving there. I'm very surprised we made it through to be honest and more surprised that out hire car didn't sustain any damage.

When we arrived, the water was not as strong cos the town was using half of the current for irrigation. Water was only knee deep. Nonetheless, the falls was majestic. The community has developed the way to the falls so it was an easy walk down. There is a guide who would individually come per group. The road going here is not yet fully constructed. About 20 minutes of rough road. If you absolutely want to see the tallest falls in Bohol, go here. If you don’t mind skipping this in your itinerary, you can. We took some photos then left.

Travelled from Panglao to Canumantad falls via rented motorcycle. I just learned how to drive a motorbike and It was a 3 hour drive but definitely an adventure. After arriving you have to pay an entrance fee, and they will advise you the longer route to reach the falls because of the cemented road but it will be another 2km ride. Instead we opted to go to Eleuterio's Paddy field. The road going there is rocky sort of an off road experience for us. Then need to trek a little. I'm glad we took this route as it was shorter and able to see the rice fields. It was so refreshing to see and experience the falls 😁

I said fishy because, from the outpost after you pay for entrance they will discourage you to go to the private road that goes directly to the falls, it's called 500 steps so that you will be forced to take the ride of habal habal that costs 50 pesos per bike.
The tour guide is learning to be a crook too, trying to catch your attention how they manage your things and your way out, feeling pity for you to give tip. It’s disgusting!

We were told that the our van won't be able to pass through the 700meters or so going to the waterfalls because of the road condition. It was still a dirt road in some places and the road is also slippery due to heavy rains from the previous days.
We were told that we need to ride a habalhabal or motorcyle Bohol style!
I was freaking out and wanted to back out but that 2 hrs. drive and a whole year of waiting kept me from doing so. My daughter and i rode a habalhabal so does my husband and my son on another. We paid 400 for the trip back and forth.
It was a ride that I never would imagine I would do! It was an uphill and downhill climb. scary yes! You can see the running water which is strong on your left with a ravine to boast about! not really condusive for a faint hearted!
We reached this parking area and we were told that we need to walk and cross 2 bridges to get to the waterfalls itself. it was a hard walk due to the slippery pavement because of the rain. best to wear hiking shoes in cases like this. we are just wearing sandals!
the water was so strong from the falls that you would not even risk taking a dip!
I bet in the summer this would mean fun but not this December 22. It would mean death if you try. we just took some pictures instead.

The journey out to Can-umantad Falls was about an hour from Carmen where we were based, but boy was it totally worthwhile! Myself and my daughter had an amazing day out, swimming around the Falls pool, in and under the waterfall itself. The water was perfect, with other water-pool areas nearby that you can also dip in and out of. The area around is also perfect for hiking!
Overall, hard to beat this. A MUST-SEE!!

Waterfall is 12kilometers in from the main road and there are motorbikes that can take you in for 100p/ person/ way. Their normal Moto taxis can’t bring you in.

Route to get there is a dirt path, rocky and steep. Do-able if you’re a confident scooter rider. If you aren’t, just pay the 100p to have them motorbike you in.

There is a short 200m hike into the forest to get to the waterfall where the motorbikes can’t take you. It’s a well cut path with proper steps and bridges.

Waterfall was very nice, not very touristy at all. Some algae in the pools but that’s expected from nature.
