This is a great piece of KY history & thanks to a past governor & spouse, this piece of history has been preserved for all. The only rest area in the US that was previously a home, is steeped with southern tradition.

How great is it that the rest stop here is a historic landmark. Walking in you can tell that it is old. Tours were not available today, it is available. Makes for an interest stop on the road.

We like this place but see several maintenance issues which need to be addressed. Since the state owns it - what gives? It's not your money - please fix up the place.

When the highway was built the owner of this beautiful old mansion was sure it was on its way to demolition! But what did the Kentucky highway people do instead? They used the money they had set aside to build a rest area to restore...More
