Although this is a small museum they have doubled the size and added a number of new exhibits since my last visit. The staff was very friendly and very enthusiastic when sharing the history of the area with me. I learned much from a descendant of a poor woman who was burned as a witch many years ago in Kentucky no less. In fact this was the last witch burning in America. I never knew. There is also a book written by Gerald Fischer that tells her unfortunate story. Gerald is also a Civil War writer who has written a fascinating account about guerrilla warfare in Kentucky and is currently working on another book of the same. Gerald was there telling me about a number of interesting accounts of these men who were deadly killers and more criminal than soldier. I literally spent most of the day there. Sometimes it’s not the size of the museum but the size of the impact it has on you that counts.
