About
Emmert Falls Primitive Trail (1.1 miles) gently climbs through the hardwoods above, a trail spur leads to Emmert Falls and a pavilion with seating. Both trails converge at the “learning tree”, a 100-year-old Osage Orange Tree, a popular gathering spot with handmade sassafras benches. Its highlight during the spring is the wildflowers that grace the forest floor. Common species include Blue Bells, Dutchmen’s Britches, Shooting Stars, Wild Ginger, Trillium, and Yellow trout lilies. The trail includes a picnic area, hiking, and mountain biking trails.

We did the short hike/walk to Emmert Falls. We started near the Nucor construction area. The first part of the trail is not very scenic because of the construction currently taking place. There is another trailhead near the River in downtown Brandenburg. It allows you to see Buttermilk Falls then continue to Emmert Falls. It's probably more scenic.

The waterfall itself was better than we expected. There has been some rain recently so that probably helped. There is a covered sitting area with a view of the falls Nice little quick stop.
