The boardwalk is probably only 1km long and does a loop out and over the bog and back. Parking available on the road at the entrance. Wasn’t busy (but dog foul in two places on this thin boardwalk, not blaming the dogs but come on...More

We enjoyed touring the boardwalk around the bog, a great feat of workmanship in itself, and the nearby visitor centre in Clara town was very well presented (and free!). We chatted with a very knowledgeable guide in the visitor centre, and learned a great deal...More

What a beautiful place to take our family, little Pug and the kids grandparents for an evening stroll. Just outside Clara on the road to Rahan it is easy to find and an easy walk for young and old alike. The kids loved peering into...More

The Clara Bog walk is an easy 1km loop around a section of preserved bog just a few minutes from Clara. We visited to experience the flat openness of the bog landscape but local families also come to walk their dogs and get some exercise....More

We had a truly amazing visit here on Monday, even though it was a damp unpleasant day. Clara Bog is a raised bog, I understand that it's one of the only raised bogs in Ireland, and you can stroll along a boardwalk over the bog...More

The Interpretive Centre in Clara village was closed when we arrived (Feb 2017). It doesn't open until the end of March apparently. But the Bog Boardwalk is only a short spin away down a narrow bumpy road (it is signposted). There is room to park...More

Bogs are so much a part of Ireland--if you have never seen one this has a mile loop boardwalk with decent displays and visitor center. Pets allowed and lots of locals stroll about it.

I really like doing the km block here . It's so peaceful and stunning scenery. Can be a little slippy if it's been raining but beautiful on a sunny day !!

Decided to find the bog and walk around on a whim, and it was definitely worth it! There were only 2 other people there -- both locals there for a bit of exercise. So we basically got the whole boardwalk to ourselves to wander around,...More
