The memorial is about 6 miles north of town on Ave 8, if I recall correctly. It's easy to get to it you look at Google Maps. You will have to make a slight right turn onto a shell road off Ave 8, then take...More

It is just north of Clear Lake, IA. It is on the country off a gravel road in a farm field. But for a true '50s music fan it is worth the trek. It is a trek of about a mile round trip from the...More

The crash site is in a cornfield. (It is Iowa, after all). Although very easy to find via Google maps, the site itself is in the middle of nowhere. Gravel road, very quiet. There is a path identified by a giant pair of Buddy Holly...More

Traveling down a gravel road, you see plainly Buddy’s glasses along the road. You have about a quarter mile hike back to the actual crash site. A beautiful marker allows one to reflect on the music lost that day. A trucker happened to be there...More

This is a must see location for anyone who is interested in Rock & Roll history. This is the spot where Buddy Hollys plane crashed back in 1959. It is located in the countryside around Clear Lake Iowa. The actual crash site is about a...More

I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more of a tribute there. But it satisfied my curiosity

It's neat to visit once, but don't have high expectations it's just a path along a field out to the site where people have left behind some "stuff".

At its current state, the memorial and tribute to the fallen musicians and pilot is a somber reminder to what history holds. It’s a bit of a walk (.25 Miles) off of a gravel road, where the landowner keeps a path open. Bring some flowers,...More

You should also visit the Surf Ballroom - the site of their last show. It's close to the crash site.
