This is a very important historical site. The first Center in the mid-west. Take a guided tour to learn the whole history and everything about it. This is a must see.

I've gone to a few of their special events/fundraisers. The people are very welcoming.
they often sell food, both to eat there or to take home, that is wonderful. There is not a lot of seating, so I have taken food home and have also participated in their silent auction.

We often go when the mosque has special events for the public typically with homemade middle eastern foods. Home cooked and attentively if a bit informally served but the people are so welcoming and kind.

Right in Iowa, this is, I believe, the oldest mosque in continued operation. Although it's small, it's still a functioning mosque.

Located in a neighborhood near downtown, it's certainly worth stopping to see it.

back in August 1980, i used to be a student at Kirkwood Community college, me and my Moslem friends used to go and pray their especially Friday prayer. It used to have a big hall for prayer with blue carpet, office for Imam, a hall for community services and kitchen. By looking at the current pictures of the Islamic center, it looks the same but they have constructed a big hall on the left side for social activities and demolished the Imam's house at the corner of the property.
The Islamic center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa founded by Ajram Family who originally immigrated from Lebanon by the end of 19th century and played an important role in the community
Actually, it is a nice place for prayer, to meet Moslem families and learn more about Islam
(PS my visit were back in 1980 but for this review i have to select December 2013)
