Fowler Park was a lovely place for our picnic and while there, we discovered the Pioneer Village and fell in love! The old time charm, peeking in the windows to all the yesteryears, natures textures and plenty of photo opportunities! The scenery makes a day out a mood changer! Check it out if you haven’t had an opportunity!

For a city park, this is a gem! Beautiful park! Spacious campsites. Nice trails and a beach. What a gem! It was Halloween day and the trees were beautiful. I believe the park workers were preparing for a night haunted Halloween walk. Also had a nice pioneer village and a covered bridge!

We recently moved to Terre Haute, IN from central Illinois. I love the nastalgic step back in time to see reconstructed log cabins and a reconstructed town with a school, church, blacksmith shop, fur trading shop and a 1 unit get away cottage. All of this on a beautiful lake with a water fed mill attached. I love photography and this was a fun place to go with my camera.

Pioneer Days has it all. The park has authentic log cabins, a working mill and a wide variety of demonstrations of frontier skills and living. The setting is well maintained and lovely. Kids can learn by doing, seeing and feeling life in the early 19th century midwest. Frontier dulcimer music, hand crafted items, wagon rides, and a friendly burro top off the experience. The park has a nice woodland campground on a lake for people who want to enjoy the full two day event in a 3 day holiday weekend.

This is one of my favorite places to go to and indulge in my hobby of photography and videography. It offers changing panorama from season to season and sometimes even from day to day. The pioneer village with authentic cottages and even a mill fed by the dam and a covered bridge that were transposed from all over the state give this park a unique theme that offers all the visitors a taste of what it was like in the good old days. Come ya'll. Do not forget your camera. Click, click, click ....

This is a small park but with beautiful lake and scenery. Recommend to visit here in Pioneer day. Only spend $5 for parking fee and you can play for half days....

Beautiful park that happens to be close to my house. Absolutely, one of the most versatile parks around.

Don't use the above address to get to the park or if you do just keep going and look for the signs for the park. GPS takes you a very round about way. The beach area here was great. Small but clear lake, free. We spend two afternoons relaxing in the sun and water.

On the evening of Tuesday June 6, 2017 I decided to visit the lake for a much needed, "jump in and get out" ritual that I've done often in the past... Sometimes every day! I've always loved visiting Fowler Park with no negative experiences to note, until this day.
Apparently, as I was entering the beach area, the attendant on duty asked everyone to get out of the water because someone witnessed a snake 🐍 in the swimming area and were told not to get back in for 15 minutes! I'm sure the must be a reasonable explanation for this 15 minute break that I am unaware of!
My problem was with the rude attendant that yelled across the beach at me for just going to the very edge of the water to wet my feet real quick. I'll be 50 years old next month and deserve to be spoken to politely and with respect...unless, of course, I'm being rude or disrespectful.
I turned around wondering who it was yelling at me so rudely and explained to this attendant that I was just wetting my feet, had just gotten there-only aware of the snake 🐍 situation because I had asked why everyone exited the water as I was pulling up to park in the restroom while preparing for my visit-and expressed some irritation, I suppose, for the rude, unnecessary welcome by her.
She approached me and explained her position, still, very rudely so I do what I do best lol, and was very pleasant with her even while explaining the fact that "snakes live in the lake, and in 15 minutes, will still be living in it! Duh!
While waiting for the 15 minutes to expire, thinking about how rudely I was treated, I made the decision to leave the park without getting to do, what I consider, one of my all time favorite things to do in Terre Haute...swimming at Fowler Park!
