We came on a windy and 35 degree day. The building is nice, but there isn't a lot of items inside yet. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we were able to ask all the questions we wanted. The rooftop was interesting, but...More

Gorgeous building in an interesting setting. But there's really nothing IN it! A short film was informative but then the only other exhibits were models of the town . . . with VERY little curated information. Seems like a waste.

We were given advice about the facilities in the park by a lovely lady whose name I have, unfortunately, forgotten. I enjoyed seeing the old log cabins but the highlight for me was the now-closed bridge across the Wabash River and views of the river...More

This 1979 Richard Meier modernist structure certainly stands out among New Harmony’s historic structures. Fortunately, it’s at the edge of town, with not quite a view of the Wabash River. We’d visited decades ago and saw an introductory film upstairs on a large screen. This...More

The building itself is unique. You could say it sticks out in an odd way in relation to the rest of the town. You can take a tour of the structure that includes a video on the history and origins of New Harmony. If you...More

The architecture of the Atheneum warrants a visit on its own, but inside you'll find wonderful resources for understanding the history, purpose, layout, etc. of New Harmony in its Utopian incarnations. You can look around on your own, but the film and guided explanation of...More
