This lake is very unusual and if going there hopefully your camera takes great reflection shots. The landscape rocks are something out of a movie, miso is the cracked shore of the lake

Walking through the bizarre stones to the only salt lake in NZ is fascinating and the views of the valley and basin are beautiful.

We visited the lake on a warm, calm spring day with excellent views of the Rock and Pillar range, and enough water for stunning reflections. The track is an easy loop with a slight rise and plenty of surreal stone- and sky-scapes to photograph. We...More

Walk amongst the valley's incredible rock formations and then be surprised if the lake has water or dried to flakes. Needs more information boards as you pass though native vegetation.
