We toured the house and carriage house with Bill. Lots of info, very relaxing. Together with the Gene Stratton Porter House gave us a very good sense of her life. Interesting to see both houses and the similarities. Also interesting to see a photo of...More

I did not know much about Gene Stratton-Porter before arriving except for the little I read on the website. A prolific writer, artist, photographer, pioneer, and naturalist whom was very famous in her time but unless you live in the area somewhat lost to history...More

I inherited all of Gene Stratton-Porter's books and this is my first chance to see her 14 room home built in 1895 in Geneva. We paid a small fee and received an hour tour of the house and grounds. I highly recommend that you do...More

Got here around 10:30 am on a beautiful Tuesday morning. We were given a guided tour of Gene Stratton-Porter's home that she helped design. We saw evidence of her art, her musical talent, her work as a naturalist and her writing. She was a very...More

Randy was our knowledgeable tour guide. He was a wealth of information, and ran this facility for 18 years. Had no idea of the deep Gene Stratton Porter roots, in little old Geneva. Newer welcome center is a great addition to this attraction. $5 admission...More

Mrs. Porter would have been proud of the way her home and her life's work is being promoted in Geneva IN. Very interesting guided tour. Original artifacts from Mrs. Porter. Lovely grounds. Worth the drive to see it.

I pledged this year to commemorate Indiana's bicentennial with a series of road trips to significant historical sites in the state. I've long been a fan of Gene Stratton Porter's work as novelist and naturalist. It was indeed a treat to visit her Geneva, IN...More

Unique Indiana historical site for day travelers and light hikers. 90 minute ($5.00) tour of Gene Stratton-Porter home and grounds. We happened by Limberlost while taking a lazy day cruise through eastern Indiana. Best for mature adults interested in Hoosier history.

Sometimes history can be dry & boring, but learning about Gene Stratton-Porter was quite interesting. The homesite of the famous early 20th century author & naturalist is filled with many of her personal possessions & restored much as it was when she lived here. The...More
