Unlike last year when they were closed due to Covid this year they celebrated the Battle of Corydon with demonstrations, music and speeches by Lincoln, etc. In the past they actually had a battle re-enactment and it was in downtown Corydon. This year it was at the park with additional parking at the nearby Methodist church. The re-enactors were enthusiastic and very informative. The Kentucky Home Guard was there providing period music for the guests. An hour would be sufficient to take in the events and Civil War displays.

I went recently and was surprised to find the cabin open. The enthusiastic docents shard information about the battle and other interesting facts about Corydon and the area. With only a few volunteers it has been a challenge to keep this place open I’m afraid. Let’s hope for better times in the future.

I stopped at the Corydon Visitors Center and the lady stated it was closed but I could still stop by, so I did. There is not much there. The few markers give a glimpse of what happened. It is neat to stand in on the same ground as the brave men on both sides, but I would recommend waiting until it opens up.

This place is sad. I’ve been here now twice in the last two days to see this battle park and first realized their only opened on Saturday and Sunday. So I go on Saturday and I was from the understanding they were opened till 6 , my family and I get there a few minutes after 4 on 8/14/21 and there closed.

Although the website doesn’t mention it the entrance is closed to traffic now. In fact the visitors center didn’t realize that the park is closed either. Is it the effects of the Coronavirus? Perhaps. You can still park your car outside the gates and take the short walk to the small battlefield and snap a few photos. It won’t take long as it’s not a big area of interest. There is just a small cabin, a canon, and a few markers, etc. commemorating the battle in 1863-a victory for Confederate General John Hunt Morgan. Of course there will be no activities this year to acknowledge the battle due to the virus threat. In fact, most things in Corydon have been cancelled this year unfortunately.

I just happened to be in the area and decided to stop there to read the markers, etc. It's well maintained and worth a quick stop if you are nearby. It's also the only actual Civil War battle to take place on Indiana soil. That being said there isn't much to see there. And any rate, it's just a few minutes away from the historic downtown district if you really want to say you have been there.

As a Civil War and Indiana history buff this was a special site for me. I appreciated the fact that it was not commercialized and still looking much like must have been the day of the battle. Interesting to know that only two Civil War battles were fought on Northern turf and this was one. A informational plaque is on site as well as replica cabin.

We enjoyed the beautiful location for this monument. Nice signs with good information. Wish the house had been open or a docent available to talk about it. There are nice signs about Morgan's Raid but nothing about the house on site or why it is there.
Beautiful huge trees and very quiet. Nice place for a picnic. (P.S. There is a geocache there)

Extremely quick trip to view this site. Area was well cared for but locked this time of the year. If adding this to your trip please include the other historical site and activities to fill your day.

The actual battlefield park is small. It contains a replica cabin (looks to be used for presentations), several monuments and a civil war era cannon. There was a single walking trail but the trail was too muddy to walk. This park is not far from Indiana Caverns was clean and well maintained.
