The Bridge between continents is a small footbridge over a major fissure which provides clear evidence of the presence of a diverging plate margin. The bridge was built as a symbol for the connection between Eurasian and North America tectonic plates.

The name sounds fabulous but when you get there, in case you'll not miss it because is not well marked on the road, you'll be "surprised" by its simplicity. Spend your day seeing something else, please! Enjoy Iceland.

To walk up to the bridge along the paved path, take a few cheesy pictures and back to the car will take 15 minutes. You can walk down a dirt path into the canyon to take some super-cheesy pictures. You may have to queue for...More

It is free. It is simply a bridge spanning a gorge about 20m wide. Excellent information provided on boards explaining the movement of two continental plates. Totally natural and you are free to clamber all over the place as well as walk over the bridge.

This site is very easy to get to, and do in combination with the Blue Lagoon. While it does not compare to Thingvellir National Park, it is nevertheless fascinating to see where two tectonic plates are coming apart.

We took an easy summer drive from Reykjavík in our rental car to seek out some natural wonders. The Bridge is just a quick dash off the main road and a short saunter from the lot. Back and forth over the bridge, we walked from...More

We stopped by here on the way back to the airport. Very cool and easy to get to. You can walk into a fault line between the North American and Eurasian plates. Very cool little stop off.

Interesting, worth the stop, lots of plaques explaining this geologic spot. Easy to reach and plenty of free parking.

Not something you get to do on a normal day or a normal vacation for that matter. A must see while visiting Iceland - seriously how often can you literally stand on two continents. Definitely recommend this attraction.

Visiting the bridge between pantonic plates is amazing, and the fact that they are actually moving around an inch apart each year is stunning! A must see as well as the crack in Þingvellir on your stay in Iceland, this place is only 10 minute...More

A true novelty... To walk from North America to Europe on land. I think it is worth the stop. Where else can you do this?

Be prepared, a taxi is extremely expensive, just going 7km set me back almost €30. It may be cheaper to see if there is a tour from the airport or if you can rent and drop a car for partial day.

It is on 425, about 10 minutes from the airport. Its a couple miles before the Reykjanes Lighthouse coming from the airport. There is no large landmark. Look for the "points of interest" sign. (The one that sorta looks... More
