A great, friendly family church. Faithful and interesting bible teaching, Sunday school available for the kids and coffee afterwards.

If you have made the trip down to bath then I can recommend a quick stop in at this amazing old church. Admiral Arthur Phillip founder of Australia and first Governor General of NSW is buried just inside St Nicholas church and this will mean nothing many but to most Australians he was the Captain of the First Fleet to Australia Captain Phillip. To others he is probably viewed in a dimer light but this is history so well worth a look. There is an exhibition containing names of all the original convicts. Buried outside is the famous painter Walter Sickert. There are clear instructions on how to find it and it was restored some years back so is easy enough to find.

My wife and myself are spending the Xmas Holiday at the impressive Bailbrook House Hotel (separate Review to follow) and this morning choose to walk into Bath along the nearby canal. This took us through the village of Bathampton where we came across the lovely St Nicholas Church. So nice that we decided to have a closer look and were delighted - particularly, as my wife is a New Zealand and we have both lived in Australia - to find it was the final resting place of Captain Arthur Philip (First Governor of New South Wales). Both the Church itself and the grounds are also well maintained - well worth 30 minutes of anyone’s time!
