Thank you for this apt description of the journey along the canal on the SJK. Maybe we will see you again sometime.

We took the boat on Easter Sunday and we were well entertained both into Bath and back including the swan who kept attaching the back of the boat. We were also offered sweets as it was Easter Sunday.

I am very glad you enjoyed your Easter treats. Also the accompanying entertainment, although he did learn the hard way it was not a good idea.

Tried the waterbus today, it's last day of public use for this season (it is available separately for private hire over the winter). Wheelchair access is via a pair of portable ramps, once aboard the flat deck makes it easy to get to the seats, or you can remain in your wheelchair if you wish. Our skipper was very knowledgeable, explaining lifestyle and technicalities to do with canal life, and pointing out unusual boats moored along the bank as we passed. And the electric propulsion is almost silent, meaning conversations can be made at normal levels. There is the choice of doing the upstream leg towards Bath, getting off and catching a later boat back to Bathampton, or, as we did, doing both journeys with a 10 minute stop in the middle. And we followed that up with a wonderful meal at the nearby George pub once we completed our trip. In short, a perfect way to spend 4 hours on a Sunday.

We hired the Sir John Knill as a private charter for a Saturday afternoon cruise when other plans for a summer Saturday afternoon for our group of 12 fell through. Jenks responded brilliantly in our hour of need and set up our return journey from Bath to Bathampton with the absolute minimum of fuss. And the cruise itself was perfect. The SJK is in pristine condition, extremely comfortable and VERY quiet (it has an electric engine). The journey along the canal (no locks) is therefore serene as well as beautiful and Stu, the skipper, got the balance just right in terms of sharing snippets of his vast array of knowledge while allowing the group to chat amongst themselves. We cannot recommend this highly enough. Huge thanks to Jenks and Stu.

I booked the Sir John Knill for my sister's hen do this weekend, and everyone absolutely loved it! Jenks was incredibly helpful through the booking process, and Mark (and his gorgeous little dog Jeff - who was the star of the day!) was a lovely skipper, letting us have cupcakes, prosecco and music on board. It was the perfect start to the weekend, and I can't thank them enough!
