We set off from the station in Pyin Oo Lwin at 8.30, having watched the theatre of locals waiting for a through train. Baskets of crops and stores loaded, we progressed through the countryside which was much greener than anything we had seen before. After...More

The Goteik viaduct is a railway trestle in Nawnghkio, western Shan State, Myanmar. The bridge is located between the two towns of Pyin Oo Lwin and Lashio. It is not only the highest bridge in Myanmar when it was completed, but also the largest railway trestle in the world. It is over...More

I did the very early start from Mandalay (4 am departure). The first part of the trip was pre-dawn & was twisty & turny - a bit like a switchback heading out from Mandalay. I had managed to get one of the best seats (4a)...More

I love trainrides and so I decided to make this one too. The trainride itself was very bumpy, sometimes the luggage fell out of the racks and for that reason I recommend to reduce the length of the ride. We took the train from Hsipaw...More

We booked through 12GoAsia - it made ridiculously cheap tickets quite expensive, but they were waiting at our hotel when we arrived and our seats had been allocated, so we were happy. We left Mandalay at 04.00 and had a very long bumpy ride on...More
