This is a great place to take the family and spend a day "mining" for garnets. It is best to arrive early in the day to find a picnic table in the shade. Take lots of water to drink and be prepared to get dirty....More

We went to find sapphires it is lots of playing in the dirt and water. Bring gloves clothes you don't mind getting wet and dirty. The experience was lots of fun overall.

This is a very nice outing for people of all ages and shape. A unique experience you won't get anywhere else in the United States. The people who run it are very informative and helpful. I would suggest this outing to everyone I know

The drive up was lovely and there is a nice picnic table near the parking lot and several others on the 1/4 mile hike up to the garnet hunting grounds. We were very disappointed in the amount of garnets in the rock pile. With 5...More

We had a great time digging for garnets. The place was not too crowded, one could tell if it were packed, it would not be enjoyable because you would have to wait your turn for all the sifters, etc. As it was, we had very...More

I went on the last weekend of the season and the amount of dirt to shift through was limited. You will find garnets, but nothing that great. I have heard that at the beginning of the season there's a large pile of material. Be ready...More
