My wife and I flew into Bear Lake County airport which is in the middle of this wildlife refuge. The number of different species of birds are incredible. Bring you binoculars you won’t be disappointed.

The refuge and the road to it are excellent areas to view marsh and water birds. There is little other traffic making it a great place for photography.

as our tour director Kristin Jenn of Trafalgar National Parks Tour stated, if the sun is out this is a truly gorgeous location, and perfect for photographing ones family in the foreground.

The refuge is very basic. Restrooms available and an auto tour. It is a large area. I enjoy taking photographs of the waterfowl most of the year. Great for bird watching!

Our coach tour drove through this way and it was nice scenery to snap some extra photos. Also good place to watch for wildlife.

Took a side trip through Idaho on our way from Wyoming (Tetons & Yellowstone) to Salt Lake City. Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge is perhaps one o the most interesting bird watching sites we've seen (we are Audubon members, bird crazy!). The ride alone is...More

One of the Federal National Wildlife Refuges. Peak is probably Spring and Fall as the bhai birds pass through. Swans, geese, and I is all make their seasonal appearance as well as some resident birds and some local mammals.
