A small park right off the highway that goes over the unique creation mythology of Heart of the Monster. The area is a bit old when we visted and need of some upkeep. The view was pretty cool though. My picture is attached.

Heart of the Monster is one of the Nez Perce National Historical Park sites. It's right on the highway and easy to visit. Worth a brief stop.

It was a nice little walk out to the Heart of the Monster, which is a small hill by the river. The recorded story was somewhat interesting, but not spectacular. Some additional information on signs or something like that would make it more interesting.More

Interesting example of "mounds" developed long ago by various tribes in the Northwest. Not a lot to see but worth a stop as you pass by. A sense of calm and respect seems to be present.

Thank you for visiting the Heart of the Monster. This site was a major prehistoric and historic Nez Perce crossing point of the Clearwater River. It is at this point the nontreaty Nez Perce forded the river during the 1877 war.

This Nez Perce park on the Clearwater river is a nice walk with the dog. The audio story of the legend of the heart of the monster was great too
