Stopped here just to chill out and it's very quiet indeed. It was Monday so not many people here at all. There is parking not many spaces and it's $2.00 per hour.

The beach had some piers and their were some fishers fishing but their was enough beach for all to enjoy. On this beach their was not alot of waves and the water was not deep for some distance but thats what I like about this...More

Every time I come to Tybee, I spend most of my time at the Back River. This place has less tourists than the main beach does, and has smaller waves, which is perfect for anyone looking to paddleboard or kayak while on Tybee. Would definitely...More

The Back River beach is a slower paced area of Tybee. A place to truly enjoy laying out in the sun, swimming in clearer water, watching dolphins and kayaks go by and enjoying the sunset. Tybee faces the east but the back beach faces west,...More

I didn't enjoy this particular spot on the island for the simple fact it was overcrowded with people fishing from the pier and you constantly smelled the stench of bait and rotting fish/shrimp.

We signed up for a paddleboarding lesson and rental that launched from Back River Beach. Like the mid-island beach, it was not at all crowded and very clean and well-maintained. The sand was nearly white in that area, making it look more like the beaches...More

Sad that so many boat trailers take up the little parking that they have. But not many spaces as it is. But was clean and kept good.

Great views, but the island is being ruined by jet skis right where the dolphins play. The water is not clean and fishing is everywhere so watch were you walk or swim. I have seen many sharks caught and sting rays - hot - hot...More

Beautiful part of the island. Quiet, lovely views of the marsh and Little Tybee Island. We've rented in this area in the past. Even if we aren't staying on the back river, we bike/walk/drive over in the evening, usually with an adult beverage, and watch...More
