Beautiful setting beside the river, but terrible service and weak product.
Aug 2020
I think the service and quality of product is very poor,
It used to be better.
It's in a great position, I don't deny this, but the wait staff (well,'actually, they are just counter staff) are close to moribund.
They shouldn't have a license for such a lovely spot.

Riverside Cafe
Aug 2019 • Couples
This was a great find whilst we had a casual walk along the river. The setting is fabulous as it is located by the river.

The coffee was great as was the service. This reminds me more of a Tea room than a cafe. Easy to get to by car with parking nearby.

Nice for a Sunday walk and coffee break.

Visit the early years of Western Australia

Peninsula Farm was one of the first farms in WA, dating from 1830. It is the oldest residence still stnding in Perth. Life was tough in the early days, and women worked as hard as men. Peninsula Farm is on the Swan River, Perth's crown jewel. The cafe is a good place to relax, you can have a high tea, please book in advance.

Breakfast at Tranby House

What a huge disappointment. Fantastic setting but this restaurant is such a letdown.. The high tea is ridiculous priced but all shop bough, nothing home made, nicely presented but could be so much better if someone put some time and effort into this restaurant.

Beautiful

Good coffee, cake and a blissed-out feeling. This is a truly lovely setting. We spent about an hour on the terrace under the trees watching the bird-life and enjoying the peaceful, mirror-like river-bend. Scones are particularly good, and there is a choice of g/f cakes. Cream, too, is better than average. Parking is okay too, not too far from cafe, a gentle up-hill. We will certainly be back.

Morning coffee stop
May 2019 • Couples
This would have to have the best view for a cafe. It's on a farm overlooking the Swan River just 20 minutes away from where we stay in Perth.
Coffee is always consistent and hot, scones and muffins always fresh and service exceptional. Very popular with locals and visitors.

Gorgeous, sunny spring day
May 2019 • Family
Visited today 10/5/2019Gorgeous sunny day was the nicest part. The bread on the sandwiches was dry, and the Betty Crocker packet cup cakes an hour later and two cups of coffee are still stuck to my back teeth. Not enough jam for 2 scones. Poor excuse for high Tea
Very over priced will never recommend this place to anyone. It’s such a same as it’s a beautiful location. Was not a good choice for Mother’s Day.

Beautiful location and interesting old house
Apr 2019 • Friends
Fascinating old house (used to be called Tranby house) offering a glimpse of life in the 1800s. Enthusiastic volunteers providing a tour. Open Friday to Sunday only. River location is worth a visit any time

Very Disappointing!
Mar 2018 • Family
On the Monday public holiday 5/3/18 , my husband and I rode our bikes up to Tranby House - Peninsula Tea House, from the city ( which we have done many times before) to have morning tea (so we thought !?) looking out at the beautiful Swan river for his birthday. There may have been about six tables taken up by customers and many empty tables left over. We parked our bikes at the bike stand and proceeded to sit down at a table with the wicker chairs to enjoy the view ; the table we chose did not have a reserve sign placed on it, as did two others. I went to have a look at the cakes available and on return to our table before I could sit down there was a loud screech from behind me telling us that we could not sit there as ALL the tables along the front were reserved. I turned around in disbelief to find that it was the waitress talking to us in such a rude manner ! I said to her there was no reserve sign on the table we had sat down at , only to be told again rudely that they were all reserved ! We promptly left in disgust. As for customer service - ZERO points ! We have been there before a many times as I’ve said and the service has never been great but this was the last straw ! We will never be returning . So if you’re thinking of going to visit Tranby House itself which is definitely worth it, with all the history behind it; bring your own picnic to have on the grounds as the view is beautiful and you will save yourself a fortune and the grief.

Not worth the money
Nov 2017 • Friends
A beautiful location, plenty of shade and fantastic history yet the price and service does not do it justice. Extremely over priced and the food just isn’t worth it. Service was really poor, not very friendly, unorganised and has a definite lack of customer service. This place really needs to pick up its game.
