Fun outing outside of Blue Ridge: 2 Hours or more
Sep 2021
During our Labor Day Trip to Blue Ridge we found this side trip about 45 minutes from downtown off Hwy 60. Once you get to the location there is a gravel path about 3 mi from the highway to the bridge parking area. We had an SUV that made it ok but recommend jeep or truck because the road is rough driving. Short .5 mile hike to the swinging bridge from the parking area. The bridge and Toccoa river is beautiful and fun. There is a small waterfall site on the far side of the bridge and if you don't mind the very cold mountain water a few visitors went swimming in the river edge to cool off. Nice place to take selfies. The reviews say this swinging bridge is the longest one east of the Mississippi River. Don't miss this if you are in the Blue Ridge area and like short hikes. Free. No fees.

Nice
Aug 2021 • Couples
It's about 45 mins from Blue Ridge's town, no service so don't get lost lol, but a beautiful view on the way there is a 3 mile gravel road. If you have a smaller car I would advise to be super careful so you take under your car out. Once you get there it's a small hike to the bridge but it's nice with some trails off in different directions

Interesting bridge to see
Aug 2021 • Family
Nice little hike to the bridge with our 14 & 9 year old. (The path has rocks and roots but is not difficult). We found a spot and played by the river on the other side of the bridge. The road you drive to the trail is very slow. We were in a truck. I think you could do it in a car if you were careful and it wasn’t wet. We got there by mid-morning and it wasn’t crowded. By the time we left a few hours later it was definitely busier. Our family likes a destination to hike to and this one was great!

Good adventure Beautiful setting
Aug 2021 • Friends
As others have said getting to the bridge is an adventure. You have to go very slow so plan accordingly with your time. For a good part of the 3 miles we were driving less than 10 mph. It is one way but there are areas to pull over so passing oncoming cars is manageable. The road is best suited for a truck or suv but we saw a couple cars. The hike to the bridge isn't too strenuous but it is hilly and there are lots of tree roots. It could be challenging for someone with balance or mobility issues. We went later in the day and it wasn't crowded. Once you get to the end of the road you just pull over and park. The bridge swings but not too much. The scenery is gorgeous. We were glad we make the trip.

Nice bridge to see!
Jul 2021
We did the loop around Blueridge, stopping to hike and visit various places. This was one of them. Nice little hike over a VERY bumpy gravel and dirt road led to the bridge. You definitely need a truck or SUV to navigate this road. I would recommend it as it is something different to see.

Great find
Jul 2021
Happy we found out about this! It took us about an hour to drive there from the cabin. Then a rough gravel 3 mile drive to get back to the area you park and then a short (less than 10 minutes) hike to get to the bridge. It was well worth it!!!

Beautiful but long 3mile narrow bumpy dirt road to get there
Jul 2021 • Family
This was a super beautiful place but a very bumpy road to get there. It was a 3 mile narrow, 1 lane windy dirt/rocky road to get there. We had an SUV but not sure if a car would be advisable. Once there, you park (not in a lot) and you walk about 1/4 mile hike to get to the bridge. No bathrooms or park Rangers or cell service so don’t go alone. Some people were swimming in the river and hiking further but we didn’t really know where we were going and wasn’t comfortable going to far. Took so beautiful pictures. Spend about an hour there.

Must do hike
Jul 2021
Such a beautiful place to hike. Chose to drive closer, the service road is a bit tough but manageable..... don't know if I would drive a car on it, we drove an SUV. The hike is easy and very pretty. Loved the surrounding area. Next time, will plan to stay longer and bring a picnic.

A Must See Site
Jun 2021
This was the highlight of our trip to Blue Ridge, but the three miles of bumpy road, parking, and hike to the bridge were challenging at best. The bridge was cool to walk across, and the river and hiking areas were very picturesque.

Nice view- but difficult to get there
May 2021
Not bad- somewhat difficult to find. Not great cell service in this area- and map apps are sometimes inaccurate. Not well marked with signs.

The road to get to the swinging bridge is a rough road- one lane. Cars may bottom out.

The walk to the bridge is not easy. It is 10-15 minutes and there are areas that are rough and step.

Nice views when you get there. There is a mini waterfall on the other side of the bridge which is a great photo opportunity.
