Great time for the whole family!
Oct 2021 • Family
My family of 7 had an incredible visit. We had the full experience, mini golf, mining, and fishing. What a great time! Geza, the owner, was hospitable and extremely helpful. He loves his business and appreciates his customers. We spent most of the day there and will go back next time we’re in the area. The woman that ran the gem mining area was so knowledgeable and it was obvious she loves helping people. Awesome place!!

Nice people, family fun.

All the employees were very kind. You could spend several hours here gem mining, fishing, and mini golfing. One word of warning: the mini golfing would be hard to handle for those with mobility issues. If you have difficulty with stairs, you probably would have trouble navigating the mini golf.

Panning for Gold
Jul 2021 • Family
This place is fun for kids to pan for gems!
Fishing was a joke as was mini golf. The mini golf course is in the woods and could use a good makeover! The course is old and difficult to walk around, I’m surprised that no one has broken their neck walking the course!

The value for panning, golfing and fishing is definitely a rip off ! The owner has a gold mine here as everyone is drawn in by the gem panning!

Everyone was super helpful and friendly! All the kids that were panning for gems were happy and it was a fun time!

Be prepared to dish out some gold for some rocks

Thank you for visiting the Lilly Pad Village, and thank you for taking the time to share your opinion. Appreciate your nice words in mentioning our staff and our gem mining. We certainly try to make everyone's experience a good one. I am very sorry you feel that the Lilly Pad is a ripoff - not many of our guests believe that. Just a note: this 'owner with the gold mine' spent fourteen years of his life building this business, many times struggle to stay afloat, working seven days a week sometimes twelve to fourteen hours a day. I never gave up and built the Lilly Pad into a destination. Hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance. We hope you will give the Lilly Pad another chance.

Amazing time wonderful employees!

We had such an amazing time gem mining at the Lilly pad with my littles! I didn’t look at the hours of operations before heading over and got there right as they were closing for the day I did not even realize it because the employees were so wonderful they welcomed us with open arms and let us stay late almost an hour Gem mining after they had closed. You could tell it was a family oriented Business and the employees truly love what they do! Also we found amazing gems this is not a place you find just a few small gems we found tons of big beautiful Amethyst and Quartz! We are trying to make it back again this trip!

Thank you for visiting the Lilly Pad. The definition of a tourist trap is a business that attracts and exploits customers and guests. We do certainly attract them. If we were exploiting our customers, I would find it hard to understand why people return year after year and sometimes every day during their vacation in Blue Ridge.I have seen kids first visit when they are two years old - and now, at twelve, thirteen, still continue to return and send Christmas cards. I do not believe they would do that if they felt exploited. Nonetheless, I am sorry you had a bad experience. Does not happen very often.

Total scam
Mar 2021 • Family
We brought and paid for 5 young kids here to fish in a stocked pond. There were so many people around the little pond and not one person was catching a fish. When I asked if they had any food to chum up the fish they handed me a cold hot dog. We then approached them again asking when the pond was last stocked and he informed us last spring and they were getting ready to restock. That was a year ago. That explains why there were no fish biting after an hour. So bummed and frustrated with the trip we took there and will not return. Why would you even sell tickets for fishing if there are no fish in the tiny pond - total scam in my opinion. We tried to tell others before they bought tickets.

Thank you for visiting the Lilly Pad. I am afraid you are wrong - there are lots of fish in the pond, and usually, we do not restock it until April ( last restocked the pond lat April ) as it would be too cold for the fish to acclimate. I, on the other hand, apologize for the crowd. You happen to visit us on the busiest day of the year. The best time to fish is either in the morning or at four and later.

Kids had so much fun
Dec 2020 • Family
We had a great time. We wore our masks the entire time. there was no judgment, even though most were not wearing masks. We were able to social distance. The lady that helped the kids did wear a mask when she came close to us, which I truly appreciated. They spread out groups to insure social distancing. Genuinely nice people work here. The kids said this was the highlight of their trip and want to come back.

AMAZING! Must do!
Dec 2020 • Family
This was such an incredible little diamond in the rough.
Geza was incredibly friendly and went out of his way to help my kiddos. It was a tad chilly and he did everything to help us stay comfortable including warm water for our hands and outdoor heaters. His pup was so sweet too. Definitely a MUST check out! Thanks Geza!!!

COVID safe gem mining
Nov 2020
Lily Pad Village is always a stop we make with our granddaughters. But in this time of Covid, we wouldn’t feel safe going. Well, they have to go kits for kids to gem mine at home. Comes with a sifter, a gem ID card and the dirt. You can order and pay online.
They brought our order to our car.
