We toured the museum as part of a private day tour from Amsterdam, and I think it was our favorite part. When we arrived, there was only one other family there. We watched a brief video (in English) about the history of flooding and windmills...More

This is our third trip to the Netherlands and we still come back to this windmill museum. It is a beautiful windmill surrounded by others in the area. The inside is well restored and preserved. The mill, grounds, museum, and shop are meticulously maintained. The...More

A real working windmill, and you are able to klim all the way to the top on the inside. Its a great place to see a real working windmill. Its just a couple off minutes drive from the city of Alkmaar.

When in Holland a windmill visit is a must. Interesting small museum incorporating shop, film in English and Dutch explaining the history of the windmill and a windmill itself. Can climb virtually to the top of the operating Mill and see first hand the workings....More

Our guide for the day brought us here instead of the more crowded windmill museums. We loved it. We were able to get personalized tours and explanations. A must see if you are in this part of the world.

Still a working mill. This one is an actually home, for display, and shows the sleeping areas, kitchen etc. Walk to the top and see how the mill works and how pieces are replaced when worn. A man is in the mill to answer questions.
