Captain Nancy was an excellent tour guide and very knowledgeable about the local plant and animal species. She took us out to bird island where we ate a good lunch that she provided. We saw dolphins and lots of different bird species along our tour. She also had some really cool microscopes we used to see all the tiny sea organisms we caught with her plankton net. The kids loved this! She also had some cool monoculars we all used to see some things close up if needed. The tour was from 1030am to around 1pm and it was on her covered pontoon boat so we were good when it briefly rained while we were out on the water.

My wife and I and my brother and his wife and some friends enjoyed the Sunshine Wildlife tour in Stuart, FL recently. We were greeted by Captain Nancy Beaver upon our arrival and we proceeded to tour the St. Lucie River and the Indian River Lagoon areas in a comfortable 35-foot pontoon boat. Nancy was very hospitable and very dedicated to preserving the wildlife and the ecology of the area. She was very well versed in the local history and well educated in the environmental challenges that southern FL faces. We were treated to closeup views of dolphins and manatees and numerous bird species. It was very informative and educational for all of us. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in nature and the local ecology.

Fabulous tour with Captain Nancy, an experienced conservationist and activist! She takes you on a journey through the Indian River Lagoon estuary, pointing out the wildlife and giving the reasons the area should be protected from further damage from humans. Given that is is the most biodiverse estuary in North America, this is very important! The people that build houses on the estuary in this beautiful location need to be more educated on flood mitigation strategies that do not negatively impact the wildlife that share the space. The reasons that people move to Florida often include boating and fishing, but more needs to be done to preserve the manatee population from harm by boat strikes and an effort made to preserve the sea grass beds that sustain manatees. A little education can go a long way and the bottom line, as Nancy points out, is that if Floridians want to continue to enjoy nature around this estuary, they need to be educated and understand why it is important to defend the area and live there in an ecologically responsible way. You will feel that you understand these issues and want to help after taking this tour with Captain Nancy. She also takes you to an incredible ecologically protected Bird Island, that is fabulous! You will witness many bird species interacting together...especially the pink Spoonbills. Enjoy!

Captain Nancy is very knowledgeable regarding the current eco system and humbly shared her knowledge while on this tour. We saw an incredible pod of dolphin, a glance at a manatee, several types of birds, and even had a bunch of catfish visit while anchored to eat a wonderful lunch. We examined tiny microorganisms that Nancy brought onto the boat. The boat was comfortable, safe, and clean. I would recommend this tour to anyone in the area.

Captain Nancy is incredibly knowledgeable about all of the plant life and animals, big and small, in the area, as well as the history. She cares deeply for the area and the animals and it shows. We learned a lot and saw many dolphins, fish, a shark, and many, many types of birds. She anchored the boat by Bird Island just before sunset so we could watch the birds coming in to roost for the night. Beautiful experience, would recommend to anyone wanting to see more of the local wildlife and learn about our impact and history.

As Captain Nancy mentioned dolphins don’t photograph well, so the screenshots don’t do them much justice!

Captain Nancy was a wealth of knowledge about the most biodiverse estuary in North America, the Indian River Lagoon. Well we only caught a glimpse of manatees and one dorsal fin of dolphins, we saw a large variety of birds on bird island, a rookery in the Indian River Lagoon. Endangered wood storks, roseate spoonbills, pelicans, great blue herons, ibis, and one I had never seen before, a great frigate bird! All in all, a lovely 2 1/2 hours out on the water; what could be better!
I will be bringing more friends on this lovely excursion!

WONDERFUL. Capt. Nancy was informative and a gracious host. 2 1/2 hr tour - we saw dolphins, manatees, and so so many birds. All through, she shared information about the ecosystem, sealife diversity, environmental challenges, and bird protections. My husband and a friend and I loved every minute.
Capt Nancy even passed around a magnifier with samples of microscopic live sealife from the estuary waters, collected while we were touring.
This was much more than a boat tour, it was a terrific and enjoyable way to learn more about the beautiful waters in the area. My husband is a photographer and he had a blast. We love roseate spoonbills, they're hard to find, but not here on Nancy's tour. She kept the number of passengers limited so she could fully engage and we'd have plenty of room to move from side to side to see what she was describing.
Beautiful and relaxing sunset tour!

Very enjoyable and informative. Grandchildren 7-14 were all kept interested, as were the parents and grandparents.

Beyond the joy of a boat ride among beautiful scenery, you will also learn about the wildlife and ecological diversity of the area. You will see many majestic species of birds, and maybe dolphins & manatees too! This tour was wonderful
