Great area to spend a Saturday or Sunday anytime of the year. You can cover it all walking. Make sure to get reservations in peak months

Rapidly growing city that is absolutely beautiful. It's relatively small, so getting around doesn't take much walking. Unfortunately, that means that downtown streets can become highly congested during peak hours, so finding parking can be difficult.

Saint Petersburg is the little known gem of Florida. Very friendly, tons and tons of things to do- check out "I love the Burg" for a huge list of ideas, great restaurants all over the city and art, art, art, art. Also lots of local bars and breweries play music for free-- I love this place !

When I was growing up and our family visited my father's mother in February, in time to attend the St. Petersburg Open golf tournament and the New York Yankees' spring training site, downtown St. Petersburg was all about the Million Dollar Pier, Maas Brothers department store, the St. Petersburg Times, the open-air post office, Webb's City, Haslam's Book Store, Al Lang Field, Rutland's and the green benches along Central Avenue. Today, all of them are gone. Fond memories of a wonderful time. But St. Petersburg has changed. It is bigger and, arguably, better. It no longer promotes itself as a destination for retired people. It remains a tourist haven but it is younger and more vibrant. The new St. Pete Pier has opened. The Salvador Dali Museum is the city's No. 1 attraction. The Museum of Arts is world renowned. So is the Chihuly Collection of fine glasswork. Few cities have hotels to compare to the Vinoy and the Don CeSar. Downtown St. Petersburg, the city's heart, is home to great shopping, restaurants, bars and cultural attractions. After making a stop to check out the largest collection of Salvador Dali's artwork outside of Spain, swing by the Chihuly Collection on Central Avenue to witness mind-blowing glasswork. En route to the St. Pete Pier, visit the Museum of Fine Arts. Shoppers can visit Sundial, an open-air shopping and dining complex. Browse through White House Black Market, Tommy Bahama and Jackie Z, then have lunch at Sea Salt. Or shop at Ashe Couture, Zazoo'd, Brutique, Misred, Shoreline Sugars or Atlas Men's Lifestyle Shop. If time permits, drive out to John's Pass Village in Madeira Beach. There are many dining options, including Brick & Mortar on Central Avenue, Maritana at the Don CeSar, Ted Peters Smoked Fish in South Pasadena, Skyway Jack's for all-day breakfast, Baba for Lebanese and Greek cuisine, The German Knodle for schnitzel and sausages, BellaBrava, Cassis St. Pete and Paciugo Gelato & Caffe. I'm sure my grandmother wouldn't recognize the place.

Recommend staying downtown. You’re a short walk to the pier, lots of good food downtown, tons of cute shops and central avenue has tons of fun bars for nightlife! They also have a trolley that can take you most places for free and runs every 15 minutes as well as plenty of lime bikes and scooters, but again it’s also pretty walkable. Lots of museums and parks as well.

I have been here few times at night and this is the 1st time during the day. The downtown seem empty. May be because it’s off season and hot. The area by the water and the restaurants had more ppl walking. I think it’s still good area to visit.

Looper free trolley gives an excellent view of the city’s museums, restaurants, theaters, The Pier ,supermarkets and the rest. Quick transport later. Trolley Drivers are friendly and good ambassadors to the city. I took several maps and gave them to newcomers. A real asset. The Sunrunner bus to St. Pete Beach beats driving and is fast. General commuter traffic is heavier than expected. Beaches beautiful. Most St. Pete residents are from somewhere else and are happy to talk up their adopted Sunshine City.

Really enjoyed walking to everything. Our goal was the MAACM. Museum of American Arts and Crafts Movement. A WONDERFUL experience and a "must see" on your visit to
St Pete"s. The building is a beautiful architectural housing of a one the most awesome collections of the American Arts & Crafts Movement.

St Petersburg is very easy to get around. We had our own transportation that allows us to explore many of the amazing murals on our own. Parking can be a difficult depending on the area
